Missy searched Damon's green eyes as he stared at her. There was something there, he was trying to hide something, or maybe he was trying to tell her something. Tell her something without having to say it out loud. Without having to show a weakness. His hands tightened on her wrists slightly.
With her head tilted back so that she could look up at him, her neck started to ache, but she didn't want to look away. This was the longest she'd been able to hold eye contact with him. His jaw twitched. Did he want her to stay?
She wanted to stay. Even in this dirty house with all of these guys, because he was here. Missy chewed her lip as she searched those green depths. Then gave him a small smile. His shoulders fell slightly, but she could see the relief he was trying to hide.
"Okay, I'll stay. If you really don't mind?" He dropped her wrists and stepped away.
"I don't give a fuck what you do. Do what you want." He growled but she knew. She could see it in his eyes. Try as he might, Damon couldn't hide the fact that he wanted her here. At least not from her.
She turned to the guys, searching their faces for any indication that she wasn't wanted. They were all smiling wide at her. Missy smiled back.
"Welp, how much do I need to pay in rent?" She wasn't sure who she should be asking, so she looked at everyone.
Matt was the one to speak up. "No one pays rent here, Missy. My dad bought this house. Everything's paid for. All you have to do is buy what you need, food and whatever." He shrugged.
"No rent?" She asked in shock. If she didn't have to pay rent, then she'd be able to save up for a car and maybe save up to eventually have her own place.
"Nope." He shook his head.
"Wow. Okay. That'll be a change." She giggled as she took her seat beside the coffee table again. Missy picked up her slice that she'd sat down to chase after Damon and took a bite.
The first thought she had was that she was going to the grocery store to fill this house with food tomorrow, and then she was going to make a large home cooked meal for these guys. Just for letting her stay here.
Was it weird that this was close to her dream? Close to what she wanted out of life? Obviously, it wasn't living in a house with a bunch of guys. No. Her lifelong dream had always been to be a stay at home wife and mother. With a handful of children. A dog.
In a nice size house, where she would spend her days cleaning and caring for her family. Making sure they were all happy and healthy. She would always be available to them, day or night. That's what she wanted out of life. That was her dream.
She'd read online a few times that most people thought of stay at home moms as lazy. Saw comments like; "All they do is sit around all day." and "I'd be so bored with nothing to do." but Missy didn't see it that way. Stay at home moms weren't lazy, at least not all of them. Not the good ones.
Their jobs were just as hard as other jobs and they had so many different titles besides 'Mom'. Not to mention it was one of the best jobs in the world. One of the most fulfilling. She wanted that.
A few hours passed by while they watched a bunch of different sports. They chatted, getting to know one another. She learned that every guy in the house played football. Missy didn't know much about the sport, but she vowed to learn as much as she could.
It wasn't long before Damon was lifting her from the floor by her arm. "Come on. It's time for bed." He said. Missy didn't miss the looks the guys gave them.
She giggled and let him lead her away. "I didn't know I had a bedtime." She said in a teasing voice.
"You don't, but when you start rubbing your eyes and yawning, you should go to bed." He replied as he headed for the stairs. Missy stopped, making him stop with her.
"Aren't you taking me home?" She tilted her head to look at him.
"Why? You're moving in here, might as well stay tonight." Damon shrugged.
"But I don't have a bedroom or a bed yet." She protested, taking a step back.
"You can stay with me again. What's the big deal?" Missy giggled, she couldn't help it.
"I don't have anything to sleep in or to change into tomorrow or my toothbrush. Hair brush. Shampoo, conditioner. None of it."
Damon huffed and glared down at her. "Missy. It's just one fucking night. You'll be okay. Come on." He grabbed her hand, not her wrist, this time and she let him drag her up the stairs. He stomped down the hall and unlocked his door, never letting go of her hand.
They walked into the room and the door shut, the lock clicked into place, like he was so used to locking the door that it was done without thought. She sat down on the edge of his bed and watched him go through his closest.
A shirt was thrown at her when he walked out. "You can sleep in this and if you want to use my shower stuff you can."
"Um, thanks. I don't really need a shower tonight. I didn't do anything but lay in bed all day." She'd given herself permission to wallow in self pity for the day. "But I'll go change. Thank you." Missy stood up and went to the bathroom, where she quickly changed into his large shirt. Sadly, it didn't smell like him but laundry detergent. She folded her clothes and put them on the sink before going back to the room.
Damon was sitting on the arm on his couch, a pair of shorts in his hand as he waited for her to finish.
"I'm jumping in the shower." He said as he pushed past her. The door shut behind him and she went to the bed. Not sure which side of the bed he slept on the most, she just went back to the side she'd slept on last night. Then giggled to herself. She couldn't believe that she was staying the night with him again. Sleeping in his bed for the second night in a row.
