First day at Edison High School, just like any other first day. In my 17 years of living I have been too 39 different schools, states too. My step father travels for a living and well my mother and I travel with him, wherever his job takes him we tag along.
I'm not a tad bit nervous about starting a new school, I've done it so many times that it all just feels normal. Too calm my nerves I just like too think that every other kid just passes through schools like I do, and I think that's what makes me feel so comfortable sitting in a room full of strangers. Every school is the same, you get the same boring classes, with the same old teachers, and the same students and their same cliques.
I got my class schedule and my campus map and tried to make today better than any other day. Even though I knew it wouldn't be any different. My first hour was Geometry, something I am good at. I found the class after the bell rang so I was tempted too not even walk in, I could hide in the bathroom until second hour and tell the teacher tomorrow that I couldn't find his class... as soon as I went to turn around to head too the bathroom my consular, the one that gave me my schedule was walking in my direction. She smiled and waved at me and asked if I needed help, I looked at her and shook my head no, and headed back towards the classroom door.
I opened the door as subtle as I could and walked in, the teacher stopped talking and announced "Ahh! You must be our new student, so glad to have you! I'm Mr. Crabtree, I am not only gonna be your favorite teacher but also your homeroom teacher. So during break you come into my class and just hangout and eat, its kind like a snack time that last 17 minutes and its's in between your second and third hour. Okay?" I shook my head, I could feel the other students staring at me like I was some kind of show-in-tell. "Great! You will be sitting... hmm.." He looked around the room for an empty seat, he pointed one out too me that was in the back second row. I nodded and headed towards the empty seat, the smell of pot hit my in the face like a frying pan once I got back there. Figured as much, I am sitting next too the "stoners".
Class went on and about 35 minutes into the lesson a girl stumbled into the class, not caring if Mr.Crabtree knew she was late and didn't have a pass. "Uh, Miss.Wait, pass?" he said, kinda casually as if this was a daily routine for her. "Oh Ron, I told you friends don't call each other by their last names. For the 100th time, call me Mikala." she giggled, and looked up at the board which, Ron, had been writing on. He pointed at the board and she made an "ugh" sound and slowly walked to the back of the class, her seat was directly in front of mine.
"Don't mean to interrupt Ron, but who's the new kid?" She smiled at me while chomping on her gum loudly which made her seem cocky. "Mikala, this is..well sorry son I never did get your name, my apologies. What is it?" he said as he hurried back to the attendance sheet to fill in my name. "Uh, my name is Talon, Talon Williams." as I cleared my throat Mr.Crabtree resumed his lesson and Mikala lowered herself in the seat in front of me.
As soon as Mr.Crabtree began talking Mikala whipped her head around towards me and whispered, "Soo, Talon Williams. You want to seat next to me at lunch?" her smile wasn't as cocky this time, it was actually a big smile, with perfect teeth and she had huge dimples on both sides of her face. "Uhm, sure." I whispered back. She shrugged her shoulders and held out her hand "Unlock your phone and give it too me?" "Excuse me, what?" I wasn't about to give a random person my cell phone.
"I'm not gonna go through it don't worry, I just figured you'd need a way get a hold of me when lunch time came around." She has me a pricing look and I nodded my head, reaching for my pocket where I kept my phone, I unlocked it and handed it too her, just like she asked. A few seconds later she handed it back, "I'll be hearing from you."She gave me mischief smile, and turned around.
The rest of the class I just stared at the back of her head, her long blonde hair was getting on my desk but I didn't mind too said anything, after she turned around earlier she put her headphones in and listened to music the rest of the class. It was so loud, I could even hear it. The bell rang and Mikala was still jamming out to her loud music, but somehow heard the bell and stood up right before me. She turned around lip sang some lyrics at me, smiled and started walking towards the front of the class, she pointed at "Ron" and lip sang too him as well while walking out the door.
