Bringing you, Your Heart

The heart is a glorious thing.
So tough and strong and
bears all that a person is.
You foolishly wore it
on your sleeve,
and you forgot this often.
You lended your shirt to the
untrustworthy strangers of the world,
then have the audacity to wonder
why you can't hear your heart
beating anymore. People are reckless
so in turn you find pieces of
that pumping muscle
in someone else's eyes, maybe
their smile, or perhaps they held a piece
of your heart on their mind.
Just a piece can make you feel
so in love until that piece becomes
one of many in a crowd of uncertainty.
You can never fully recover what you
so willingly let get taken from you, so you walk around all vulnerable until you find the next few pieces in someone's personality. The moment you stop
looking is when the pieces come find you
mended and new and fresh and so full.
