I always loved the dark. The sweet tranquility of it all, the way it can hide things from you, and you wouldn't even notice.
My father would always find me in corners. I wasn't a very social child growing up. Despite that my father never made me feel bad about it.
He'd always pick me up in his arms and tell stories about my mother. He'd say, "your mother was the most extraordinary person I've ever come across."
I always loved hearing about my mom. The kids would always give me strange glances when I had no one to write a Mother's Day card to. Their parents were even worse, they'd go around spreading rumors that my father wasn't actually my father.
I looked nothing like my father. Many children don't look like their parents though. Besides, it's not like they've even seen my mother, maybe I looked like her.
