It had been a month since the last victim had been killed, and still the police had gotten nowhere on a lead for the murderer. That is, until they got a call early morning, a shaky voice saying that they had just witnessed a crime; a man had been stabbed, just outside her window.
Yoongi and his team rushed over to the crime scene. The paramedics, being the first ones on there, were lifting the injured victim onto a gurney. Yoongi's eyes doubled in size when he saw that this victim might still be alive. The victim also had the same cut marks on his face linking this attack to the other murders. Though there were not nearly as many cuts on this victim's face as the other victims. Also, unlike the other victims, this one was male.
The person who had called it in was leaning against a wall, shaking. Yoongi and Namjoon approached the lady wearing sympathetic smiles in hopes to calm her nerves, at least a little bit.
"Hi, ma'am, I am detective Min Yoongi from the Mapo police department, this is my partner Kim Namjoon, are you okay to answer some questions for us?" Yoongi asked, voice soothing.
The lady gave a little nod of her head though she still hadn't looked at either of their faces. Yoongi and Namjoon exchanged a look.
"Okay ma'am, did you see the face of the assailant?" Namjoon began.
"I—it was a man." The lady said in a voice barely above a whisper. Yoongi had been betting on their murderer being a man, considering the nature of the first three murders, but with the victim being male, made him question the motive.
"Can you describe what he was wearing?" Namjoon asked.
"He was wearing clothes—" the lady took a shaky breath, "It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, he was dressed like a normal guy..." She trailed off.
"Did you recognize the man?" Yoongi asked her.
The lady shook her head, "I didn't get a good look at his face, but I don't think so."
"Do you know the victim?" Yoongi asked.
The lady nodded her head, "I saw him occasionally around the building. Handsome boy, so sweet, he would always hold the elevator door for me when he saw me." The lady trailed off again, a small, sad smile playing at her lips.
"Can you tell us what happened?" Namjoon pressed. Yoongi was a little worried the lady would start to hyperventilate and not be able to convey the rest of the story.
"I heard a lot of rustling noises, and then a shout outside my window. I normally wouldn't have looked—but the shout didn't sit quite right with me. I peeked out my window—and I saw two figures," She started fiddling with the string on her jacket, "They were definitely both male. I thought maybe they were just having a brawl, maybe they were both drunk, but then—" She paused, eyes dazed, "Then I—the man had a knife, and he started s—slicing—" the lady was obviously having a hard time getting the words out, Yoongi wanted to reach out and comfort the lady, but he didn't think what she wanted right now was physical contact from the opposite gender.
"Slicing his face." The lady closed her eyes and swallowed loudly. "That's when I screamed and called the police. When I came back, the boy was just lying there and that's when the—" The lady did, in fact, start hyperventilating and Namjoon decided that that was enough information for today. He led her over to the paramedics while Yoongi stood and processed all the information.
He guessed that the last part of the lady's story would have been that the murderer stabbed the victim. The lack of cut marks on the victim's face could have been that the murder didn't have as much time as he did with the other victims to fully mar him.
