DECEMBER 11, 2009

I am getting the girls ready in their cute little matching dresses for their second birthday party, "Are you both ready to party or what?" I ask.

"Yes!" they cry out together.

"Well, you both look so darn cute; Momma can hardly take it." I tell them as I lean over and kiss them both on the forehead, "Let's go give daddy some love on his birthday too."

I lead them to Dom's picture on the side table, "Give daddy some sugar and say Happy Birthday!" I instruct them.

They both kiss his picture. Gianna cries out, "Happy Birfday, dadda!" she says.

"Happy Birfday, daddy," Abrianna says.

My eyes fill with tears, "I bet dadda is looking down on you and smiling."

They both look up to the ceiling. "Hi, dadda!"

Momma and Earl show up after a little while. They help me get the party set up and keep the twins entertained. Mariah and Dylan show up with their kids. Then Brie and Seth with theirs. Stacy calls me while I'm getting everything ready in the kitchen; I answer, "Hey, bestie."

She chuckles, "Hey bestie! What are you doing?"

"Oh, just getting the food ready for the party," I respond.

"Well, an old friend of mine came into town to surprise me. I was wondering if you cared if I brought him?" she asks.

"No, not at all. Do I know him?"

"Well, no. Actually, it was Brie's ex-boyfriend's old college friend. They had a falling out, and he and I started hanging out before I moved down here, and we kept in touch. He's actually moving up here. He was just hired to work with Dylan and Seth as a Lineman."

"Oh, okay. What's his name?" I ask.

"His name is Oliver Hampton." She responds.

"Sure, bring him with you. Any friend of yours is a friend of mine. I hope he likes kids." I reply jokingly.

"Oh, he does, trust me. We will be there shortly. Love ya."

"Love ya. See ya soon," she says before I disconnect the call.

Pretty soon, everyone arrives, and Oliver walks in with Stacy, Lucy, and Josie. His blue eyes about make me weak in the knees. He shoots me a cheeky grin and leans over to whisper in Stacy's ear. She stands on her tiptoes to whisper something back. He nods and runs his tongue along his bottom lip. Oh, God! I try to ignore him, but he's drop-dead gorgeous.

Stacy comes up to introduce me to Oliver, "So, Maggie this is Oliver. Oliver meet my best friend, Maggie."

I smile and stick my hand out for his, "Nice to meet you, Oliver."

He reaches out to gently squeeze my hand, "Likewise, Maggie."

"Okay, so I'll leave you two to get acquainted." She says, smiling ear to ear.

"Ummm... huh?" I ask nervously.

He gazes down at me apologetically,  "Sorry, I had to come meet you. You are just so beautiful."

My cheeks begin to flush, "Aww, thank you Oliver. That is very nice of you to say. You know, these are my two girls over here." I tell him as I point to them, trying to give him a friendly warning, so he has a chance to run.

"I do know this. She said you are widowed. I'm very sorry for your loss."

I shrug my shoulders, "Well, we manage the best we can."
