TWO YEARS LATER...
I stroll up to Dom's headstone and kneel before it, "Hello, my love, I came to visit with you. It's been a while, so I wanted to let you know how things were with us. The twins are going to be starting kindergarten next year, can you believe it? Time is flying by so quickly; it's hard to keep up...It's very exciting; they are growing up so fast, my darling. You'd be so proud of them; they are so smart and so beautiful. I see so much of you in them."
I begin to tear up and reach out to graze my fingers across the headstone, "They have your kind spirit and loving nature; both are so adventurous, just as you are. I miss you so much, Dom, but I know you are there with me. I can sense your presence everywhere in the house, too."
I grab a tissue from my pocket and wipe my nose before continuing, "I finally started to pack up your things. Don't worry; I won't get rid of them. I just needed to put them up in a safe place. Oh, and I paid off everything on the house with the money you gave me. I have two CD accounts for the girl's college funds with the rest. Thank you for that."
I pause for a moment as I feel my hair whipping wildly around my face. I reach up to pull the loose strands back behind my ears and continue, " You know Oliver is taking good care of us now. The twins love him. He's good to them; he's a good father figure. He plays baseball and basketball with them and even soccer; he's really athletic. Abrianna seems to enjoy playing sports more than Gianna. I think she's going to be a tomboy. Gianna is definitely a girlie girl."
I begin to sob for a moment and stop to gather myself before I continue," I got married to Oliver a year ago. He works with my brother and Seth. He's a good provider and a hard worker. I love him, Dom; I really do. I guess I am fortunate to have two loves of my life; that's you and him. You both have a place in my locket. He never interferes with any memories or belongings that I have kept of yours. I think he was sent here to help me. Heck, maybe you sent him here; I wouldn't be surprised. "
I close my eyes and listen to the sound of the rustling tree branches; it's so peaceful. I open my eyes and clear my throat, "Anyways, I think about you a lot. Don't ever doubt how much I love you. I will always love you, Dom. You will always hold a special place in my heart. You know my heart is a big place. It has plenty of room for two. Oliver is sharing space in there with you. I hope you don't mind." I tell him.
The baby begins to get fussy; I reach out and put his pacifier in his mouth, "I had a son, his name is Abel... Abel Declan Hampton. He's nearly three months old."
I pause for a moment as I hear a noise behind me; I quickly turn to find it's Oliver, hand in hand with the twins standing behind me, "Sweetie, I'm so sorry to interrupt, but Gianna says she has to pee. She only wants her Mommy to take her." He says.
I smile and nod before turning back to face the headstone, "That's my cue; I better go. Fino a quando ci incontriamo di nuovo (Until we meet again.) I love you, Dom." I whisper.
I quickly stand and walk towards them, and the five of us climb into the car and drive back home.
