Chapter three: Zayne's P.O.V

Anger could not even begin to describe what I was feeling right now. What was supposed to be a simple ball to announce my father's new status turned into a bloody feast. Normally, I wouldn't care. But Elena, my human wife, she cared. She was probably the only reason I had decided to refrain from doing this but I wasn't the prince or any form of high royalty and what the princess says goes. As well as the king and queen.

Had I been king, this would've been done entirely different. But I wasn't...at least not yet.

The chaos of screams around me were but white noise to my ears, I was really just trying to find my wife and get the hell out of here. She was right...we do need a vacation. Turning I started towards the last direction I seen her but was interrupted by the Queen. Her eyes were violet- a royal blood lusted color- oddly the same color as mine yet I didn't speak that aloud. She gripped my shoulders in a binding grip and had I not been an master vampire, I probably would've felt her dig into my bone and been in a whole lot of pain.

Pulling closer she whispered in my ear "I need to speak with you Zayne."

I merely nodded "Yes but first..."

"No Zayne, now."

She didn't give me a choice. I quickly casted my eyes about the room. Where the hell was my wife? This caused a rather annoyed sigh to fall from my lips. The smell of blood in the air was making it rather difficult not to just join them, take many lives as I could just to feel their heartbeats flutter and retreat into darkness that was death. No. I'm different now, no longer should I be tempted by this.

Quietly I followed the queen into another room, one that didn't have the smell of blood. My worry was still on my wife and at the moment it was all I could think about.

The queen paced around the room, graceful, beautiful and unique in a way that could only be associated with the queen. I could only wait patiently for her to speak; for to display impatience could very well mean the end of my life. Her daughter Arabella favored her very much with the nearly white hair and violet eyes that always seem to glow. It was strange but I never quite cared to pay much attention; not when green eyes were the only things I cared to look into.

The queen stopped pacing, turning with an abruptness that had me somewhat concerned.

"My daughter Arabella holds you in high esteem Zayne."

"Yes." I responded blankly. It was no secret that Arabella had a thing for me, hated my wife with a passion but...I couldn't return her love.

"As does the king."

"Yes." Another bit of information I knew. I was considered to be the king's closet friend and had trained under him for years of my existence. I even spent my youth in his study while also playing within his castle walls. But where was the queen getting to with this?

The queen bit her lip, a pearly white fang flashing me indiscreetly. " I'll get right to the point then. Some of the other nobles wish to only use my daughter as an excuse to get to my power. I cannot let that happen and as a result, there are rumors of plans to kill her. As a mother I cannot and refuse to let this happen. However, with this day and age, the council is refusing for me to dispose of them and doing so could raise a riot. You are one of the few nobles of which I know I can trust. So I am asking you to please take my daughter with you and protect her with your life."
