Hogarth, (Name), and Giant are in the woods. Giant sighed happily. "It's beautiful, huh?" Hogarth asked Giant. (Name) then spots a deer. "Hey, look!" Hogarth and Giant look at the deer. Giant looks at the deer, curiously. Hogarth quietly tells Giant what it is. "It's a deer."
"Shh, let's get closer." (Name) whispers. Giant walks quietly to the deer. The deer sees the robot and stares at it. Giant kneels down holding out his finger. The kids and Giant smiled as the deer curiously sniffs the robot's finger. Then the deer hears the twig snaps and rubs away.
"Hmm, well I guess he decided to...." Suddenly a gunshot is heard and Giant is shocked. Giant stands up and finds hunters not that far from them. The hunters turn to see the robot behind the trees. "It's the monster." They both run away from Giant as the kids and the robot sees the dead deer that has been shot.
"Oh, no." Hogarth said as (Name) covers her mouth in shock. Giant slowly reaches his finger down touching it, trying to get the deer to move. "It's dead." Hogarth told him. Giant sadly. "Dead?" He then tries to pick up the deer. "Don't do that!" (Name) yelled at Giant. Giant is confused. "But...why?"
"It's dead. Understand? They shot it, with that gun." Hogarth explain. Giant sees the gun his eyes narrow and turned red. "Hey, what's wrong?" Giant snaps out of it. "Gun?" Giant asked. "Yes. Guns kill." Hogarth told him. "Guns kill." Giant said looking at the dead deer.
Later that night The kids and Giant are at the junkyard. Giant is feel very sad about the deer. He uses his finger to open a car hood, then drops it, and repeat. The kids walks up to him. Giant stops and the kids sit on the hood of the car.
"We know you feel bad about the deer. But's it not your fault." (Name) told him. "Things die. It's part of life. It's bad to kill. But it's not bad to die." Hogarth told Giant. "You die?" Giant asked them. "Well, yes someday." (Name) told him. "I die?" He then asked next.
Hogarth rubs the back of his neck, saying. "I don't know, You're made of metal...but you have feelings. And you think about things. And that means you have a soul. And souls don't die.
"Soul?" Giant asked. "Mom says it's something inside of all good things... and that it goes on forever and ever." Hogarth pats Giant's face, (Name) then kinda hugs Giant's face. And the two walks away to head back to Hogarth's house. Giant lies on the scraps and he looks up at the night sky.
"Souls don't die."
Hogarth and (Name) rode their bike back to Hogarth's home. They go in the barn parking their bike. Kent is in there waiting for them. "You're late for dinner, childern." The kids runs trying to escape from him but Kent locked the door, trapping them. The kids back away from Kent, he approaches them.
"Your mom's working late tonight Hogarth. So it's just us and you're partner in crime. And we're gonna have a little chat." Kent then shoves Hogarth and (Name) in separate chairs. "So, sit down!" He then shines on the light in their faces. The kids try to shield their eyes. "How's that? A little bright? Good." Kent chuckles. "Forgive me, children. I wanted you to learn something."
"What can we learn from you?" (Name) asked him, dropping her arm as she and Hogarth gets use to the light. Kent walks out of the shadow, to stand by (Name). Leaning down to talk right in her face.
"You can learn, (Name). That I can do anything I want, whenever I want if I feel it's in the people's best interest. The giant metal man, where is it?"
"We don't know what you're talking about." Hogarth answered, annoyed. "You don't?" Kent asked stand up straight, and walking in front of the table. "Well, does this ring a bell?" He lays down a photo of the aluminum, the kids narrow their eyes at it. "No? How about this?" He then lays down a photo of (Name) and Giant. (Name) eyes widen at the photo. "You've been careless, (Name)." Kent told her.
"It doesn't prove anything." Hogarth told him, as (Name) begins to panic in her head. "It's enough to get the army here with one phone call." Kent told him. "Then what's stopping you?" Hogarth asked him. Kent, angrily getting into Hogarth's face; whilst smacking the lamp out of the way. "Where's the giant?!"
He then grabs Hogarth by the jaw. "You can't protect him, Hogarth, anymore than you can protect.... your mother." He told him, with a smug smile. "My mom?"
Kent lets him go and sighs. "It's difficult to raise a boy all alone. We can make it more difficult. In fact, we can make it so difficult it would be irresponsible for us to leave you in her care, and all that implies. You'll be taken away from her, Hogarth. Probably taken out of the town. Away from her and (Name). Forever."
"You can't do that!" Hogarth said banging on the table. Kent smiles evilly. "Oh, we can, and we will." (Name) slams a fist on the table. "That's not fair! I'm the one who mess up! If your going to threaten anyone, threaten me!"
"How sweet of you, (Name). But I feel it would hurt you more. If Hogarth got taken away becuase of you." (Name) eyes widen at Kent. She lowers her head, her fist on the table shakes with angry. "He's in the junkyard. McCoppin's Scrap, off Culver Road." Hogarth finally said.
"The junkyard. Of course! Food for the metal-eater. I wouldn't worry about this, childern. This isn't really happening. It's only a bad dream." Kent shoves two chloroform rag on Hogarth's and (Name) mouths, leaving them unconscious.
Later Hogarth and (Name) are in bed in Hogarth's room. When they begin to wake up from the chloroform they hear voices. Kent is talking on the phone in the hallway. "Yes, sir. This thing is real, sir. I not only have incontrovertible evidence General. I know where it's hidden. I don't know who built it, but it's here, it's massive and we're running out of time."
The kids get out of Hogarth's bed and they listen to Kent talk on the phone. "There's no doubt we should act. The only question sir is, Can you afford not to? Excellent, sir. You won't regret it. Thank you sir." Kent hangs up the phone. The kids hides behind the bedroom door, waiting for Kent to walk by. Once he was gone they try to escape but they are blocked by Kent.
"The Army arrives in the morning children. Don't get cute." The kids glares angrily at him as they slowly backs away into Hogarth's room then he closed the door.
Hogarth looks at his friend beside him and says quietly. "We gotta warn Dean." They runs to his bedroom window, Hogarth tried to open it but can't. They then sees his window is nailed shut. Kent opens the door glaring at him and the kids glares back. "I'll be watching you, childern."
Kent sits down on the guest's bed. The kids continues glaring at him as they get back in bed. (Name) picks up two helmets, giving one to Hogarth, and keeping one for herself.
They puts on the army helmet, folded their arms, and puts on the goggles. Kent smiled evilly and he never loses his gaze from the kids. They stared at each other for hours then Kent grew tired and the kids turn over, falling asleep.
Kent smiles at this then he looked at his watch. The next morning he woke up and looks at Hogarth's bed. To see the kids have not move. He smiles thinking he has won.
"Morning, Kent." Hogarth said as he walks pass the room. Kent gasped, he runs into Hogarth's bedroom he pulls the bed sheets only to see pillows and one of the helmets fall to the floor. Annie then enters the room. "For some reason, the Army is in our front yard, Mr Mansley." Kent turns around smiling. "Please call me, Kent."
