Zachariel's P.O.V
Hi guys, thank you so much for your patience. I'm sorry about the late update. I received my Covid-19 vaccination and couldn't lift my arm for a few days. I had fortunately already written the chapter. I've already recovered, so no worries. Enjoy reading the chapter, and please leave a comment. Stay safe, everyone. I hope that all of you will get vaccinated soon too.
Alexei and I quickly followed Bertha to the children's room. My heart skipped a beat when Genevieve yelled, "Papa!" in agony. I took a seat next to Genevieve, then started rubbing her back to ease her pain. Genevieve kept throwing up. I felt helpless when she began hyperventilating. Alexei and I both could see that she was having an allergic reaction to something. I immediately asked Bertha to write down everything Genevieve had eaten and had come in contact with since that morning. Bertha diligently wrote everything down with the help of Ocean. Alexei grabbed his phone, then dialed the children's pediatrician's number. I noticed that Genevieve's hands were red. That meant that she had touched something hazardous to her health.
Alexei ran out of the children's room, then came back with an allergy emergency kit. Bertha had fortunately placed the boys in another room. We wouldn't want them to see their sister suffer. Alexei knelt next to the bed then sanitized Genevieve's upper arm. He then carefully administered the allergy shot to Genevieve. Genevieve screamed, "Daddy!" when the needle pierced through her skin. The little girl cried while clutching my shirt. Alexei placed a kiss on Genevieve's head then said, "It will be over soon, baby girl. I promise." I sighed in relief when Genevieve started breathing normally. Alexei put a band-aid on the needle mark, then gazed at his daughter. Genevieve yawned, then closed her eyes.
My clothes were a mess. Genevieve had puked on me. I placed a kiss on Genevieve's head then said to her, "I'm glad that you are feeling better, Genevieve." Bertha approached us slowly, then uttered, "I'm sorry, sir. Some wild Chrysanthemums bloomed in the garden today. Genevieve was fascinated by the yellow flowers. I would have never let Genevieve play with the flowers if I had been aware that she was allergic to them." Alexei stroked Genevieve's head, then responded to Bertha with, "It's not your fault, Bertha. We would have never known that Genevieve was allergic to those damn flowers if it hadn't spread here. I'll ask the landscaper to take care of it immediately. Don't let the kids play outside tomorrow."
I gazed at Genevieve, then uttered, "I'm going to bathe Genevieve, Bertha. Take your time to clean the room. Genevieve will sleep with her brothers in the other room tonight." Bertha nodded, then responded to me with, "As you wish, Zach." Alexei grabbed the allergy emergency kit, then followed me to the bathroom. He closed the door behind him, then uttered, "The pediatrician will visit us in the morning to check on Genevieve. I'll stay home to take care of the kids tomorrow." I could see that Alexei was struggling to keep his emotions under control. I decided to give him some time to cope with the critical incident's stress. I bathed Genevieve, then dressed her. Genevieve was sleeping peacefully and didn't even notice that she was getting washed.
I left Genevieve in Alexei's care, then took a shower. Alexei sang a song to Genevieve to soothe her. We brought Genevieve to the room where the boys were after I got dressed. Alexei put Genevieve on the bed when his phone started ringing, then left the room. I checked Genevieve's temperature, then tucked her in. Dominique woke up suddenly, then asked me, "Is Genevieve okay, papa?" I stroked Dominique's head, then responded to him with, "Yes, Dominique. She is fine now. Sleep well and dream about lots of cute puppies, little penguin." Dominique nodded, then closed his eyes while giggling. I was just about to walk out of the room when Jacques grabbed my hand. He had managed to get out of bed without me noticing it. Jacques stared into my eyes, then asked me, "Are you sure that Genevieve is alright, papa?" I picked up Jacques and tickled him. The little boy giggled with glee. I hugged Jacques tightly, then answered him with, "I'm one hundred percent sure, little Jacques. I'm going to check on your dad, then come back. I'll keep watch on you all tonight. Nothing will happen to your sister while I'm here." Jacques grinned at me, then uttered, "Good night, papa." I placed a kiss on Jacques's cheek, then tucked him in. I then said before walking out of the room, "Good night, little munchkin."
