ATHENA

I gasped wrenching myself away from my brother emotions just as he passed out, I was sweating and I clinched my fists after noticing that they were shaking, Morgana gave me a worried glance but I shook my head not wanting to voice my fears. We were only an hour from Camelot and despite the fact that it was getting dark I pushed forward ignoring the concerned whisperings of my companions, I knew I was freaking them out especially Morgana but I didn't know enough yet to tell them anything so why worry them, though my silence was probably doing that enough as it was. I barely noticed the time as I continued to monitor my brother's emotions, even though he had passed out they were still spinning and I was fighting every urge I had not to throw up. We thundered into Camelot an hour later the Knights of the Round Table pouring out of the castle yelling at them to halt before they recognised me "Your majesty?" Sir Leon said sounding surprised as I jumped of my horse Morgana following, the knight bowed to us but I waved him off "Where is he?" I asked not even bothering with a greeting. The knight raised an eyebrow but didn't waste any time and motioned for me to follow as he turned back towards the castle, Morgana caught up with them just as they reached Arthur's chambers. I strode through the doors not bothering to knock and George spun snapping "How dare you...?" his voice trailed off as he saw that it was me and his eyes widened blood draining from his voice as he squeaked "Your majesty" I barely speared him a glance as I saw Arthur turn towards me a look of worry on his face that immediately melted and turned into one of relief as he saw that it was me. I walked over to him as he stood up giving me a hug and I noticed that he was shaking, I wrapped my arms around him letting him take comfort from our embrace. I pulled back and Morgana took my place in her brother's arms as I walked to the bed where Merlin had been placed. Gaius was monitoring his pulse not even looking up and I tried to hide my worry, "Arthur you look exhausted why don't you go and get some sleep" Morgana said and I jumped not having heard anyone speak in a while, the king sighed and I could tell that he was going to refuse. Arthur glanced between me and Merlin before nodding and heading out of the room, Morgana gave me a knowing look as I raised an eyebrow. She gave me a kiss before walking out leaving me to sit at Arthur's vacated chair stroking my brother's hair out of his face and sending calming thoughts through the bond trying to ease his troubled mind.

Several hours later Merlin still hadn't woken up and I was pacing in the council chambers listening as Sir Leon gave his report, he was listing what they had seen on their most recent patrol when they had spotted Ramsey camping a few days away from Camelot. Arthur glanced at me just as agitated as I was but probably for different reasons and it didn't escape my notice that it was once again Arthur and I dealing with Ramsey on our own, Morgana stayed with Merlin so that he had someone with him when he woke up. Shaking my head I slammed my hands down on the table making everyone jump, "Why now?" I asked and they looked at me confused and I rolled my eyes "Think about it he had vanished none of us could find him why attack now?" I said. It didn't make sense, not unless; my mouth dropped open and I sat down heavily my legs shaking, as I realised something that made the blood drain from my face. Arthur gave me a concerned glance looking like he wanted to come over and rub me on the back. I felt sick but I took a deep breath and turned towards Leon "Did you see anybody else?" the knight frowned and shook his head but that didn't help my unease if anything it worsened. Ramsey had avoided our patrols for over a year and now all of a sudden he was showing himself, it could only meant one thing; Ramsey had a plan and it was time for him to execute it. I had a feeling we were missing something, the last time Ramsey had invaded he had an army now he was on his own? It didn't make sense, yes he was more powerful now with his demons but that didn't mean that he could take Camelot on his own. Arthur opened his mouth about to speak but I held up my hand and closed my eyes as they flashed gold, suddenly my mind left my body and out of Camelot towards Ramsey. I saw his little camp and I let my senses stretch out looking for any other signs of life, what I saw made my skin crawl. There was a reason Leon hadn't seen anybody else with Ramsey, he wasn't alone but he wasn't exactly surrounded by the living either. The shadows or Xaren as Thea had called them had somehow gained human form and were standing in ranks as if they had formed an army. Ramsey turned towards me grinning an ugly smile "I'll see you soon dear cousin" he said and lunged towards me, I screamed and jolted back into my body with a thump almost falling out of my chair as it crashed to the ground.
