"You owe me!" I lightly pushed River's shoulder.
"Owe you what exactly?" River smirked as he wiped off the whip cream he got on my face. As he did so, I dipped my finger in whip cream.
"You owe me this." I said and wiped the whip cream from his nose, down to his jaw line. I laughed victoriously. River's mouth dropped and he stared at me in shock.
"You're sneaky. You're sneaky." He shook his finger at me with a sly smile.
"I can be." I said eating one scoop of my ice cream. River picked up a napkin and wiped the whip cream off his face. "You look good with that on your face though."
"You do too." River leaned his elbow on the counter and rested his cheek on the back of his hand, making himself fairly close to me.
I slipped my hand to his and clasped our hands together. It felt comforting just holding his hand. Like if I was a total mess, holding his hand would just make me happy. Being with River, makes me feel complete.
"Wanna get out of here?" He asked.
"We didn't finish our-"
"Its okay." He smiled. He pulled out the money owed and placed in on the counter. We left the parlor and just strolled around, looking at items through the stores' windows.
-River's POV-
We stopped at this small antique shop and something caught Grace's eye.
"Oh my god, look at that." She pointed at a small plush key chain of a bird, a red robin in peticular that hung on a jewelry holder. The key chain had a red velvet strip sewn around the robin's neck, like a collar, with a gold bell.
Grace smiled and walked on. I snuck into the antique shop as Grace continued to walk.
I grabbed the key chain off the holder and made my way to the cashier. There was a nice old lady smiling at me.
"I see you're getting this for your lady?" The old lady smiled sweetly.
"Yeah." I smiled back. I looked down at the key chain in my hand. There are a lot of red robins that fly around in the spring, and Grace was born in the spring.
"That's very sweet. I saw her eyes glisten when she saw the robin. Take it." She said.
"Pardon?"
"You don't need to pay me. Now go on before she notices you're gone." The old said and shooed me off.
"Thank you." I said and put the robin in my pocket. I ran out and caught up with Grace. She gave me a weird look. "What?"
"Nothing." She blushed. "Where to?"
"Anywhere you want. Paris, Japan, Los Angeles. I'll take you." I joked.
"In the area wise." She laughed.
"I think we should head home since its pretty late." I looked at my watch.
"Alrighty." Grace said.
I walked Grace home and her face glowed. I walked her up to her door.
"I hope you had fun tonight." I said.
"I hope you did too. Sorry I pulled you out from the party." She said.
"Don't be." I said and leaned forward. I placed a kiss on her lips and pulled away.
"Good night, River." She whispered.
"Good night, Grace." I whispered back. I took Grace's hand, and reached into my pocket. I placed the keychain into her hand, and the bell jingled. Grace's eyes sparkled and she looked up at me surprised.
I kissed her cheek then walked off. I stopped in front of the porch, "I'll see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow." She smiled and walked into her house.
I made my way home and I heard yelling. Outside on the porch were my parents, yelling. I ran over to them and my mom pushed my dad away from her. She was in tears.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Ask your father." She snarled and stomped into the house.
"Dad?" I asked.
