______________________The sky was the blackest of grey. The streaks of lightning the only light in the sky. The car trembled as Thunder clapped above. A black veil obscured the sun.
Cade rested his head against the window. Then, a tender 13 years old, Cade sat silently as he stared outside. Rain droplets froze against the window before they passed his eyesight.
He strained as they began to collect to quickly. The confusing pressure inside of him raging with the storm outside of the van.
"Are you feeling any better, Kiddo?" Asked his foster dad Bryan. The man pushed his graying sandy blonde hair from his face and peering at the pre teen.
Cade put a hand to his searing stomach and shook his head. He was too embarrassed to look his new dad in the eye after the inconvenience he called that day. "Sorry you had to pick me up early." He whispered.
A fierce beam of lightning tore from the heavens. It split the dark veil in the sky. Sliced just hundreds of feet away into the crashing sea.
Cade gulped and turned away. The bend of the road and the steepness of the cliff turning his stomach. Despite living in Amnesty Bay all his life, he wasn't used to the phenomena. Storms or cliffside roads, for the matter.
Bryan smiled a gentle smile. "No need to be sorry. You weren't feeling up to it, that's okay." The man assured his son.
Cade shifted uncomfortably. He clenched his fingers and his toes to keep himself from bawling. The pain was growing unbearable. There was a dam inside of him, and he needed to free it. Or else he'd pass out. The slippery roads and water below didn't help.
He hated the water as long as he could remember. In fact, Cade avidly avoided the water. He'd only travel on water if it was absolutely necessary. And never too far out. Truly, he considered the water another downside to living in Maine.
The thunder boomed above their heads, shaking the car. Cade jolted up in his seat, feeling his seatbelt strap lock firm. The air rushed from his lungs and he gasped for another. He'd triggered himself.
Shocked by the sudden commotion Bryan looked over to the passenger side. He could tell the pain was immense by the way Case looked.
"Hey, hey, you're okay. You hear me Cade? We're almost off the cliffside, once I can pull over we'll get your meds out alright?" Soothed Bryan.
