i had just sat in the car with my mom. the radio playing in the background quietly. the car ride was silent for the most part, the only sound was the various honking and the cars turning signal.

every time we'd turn though, i replayed the accident in my head. i would remember how her hair whipped to the left of her face as she turned her head, the velocity of the other driver, and how the pale bandage covered her beautiful hazel-green eyes.

every time we'd turn, i'd shut my eyes tight, only being able to see black. i knew my mom had been watching me. i looked through the corner of my eye and i'd see her looking at me, blue eyes full of concern.

i was ready to jump out of the car, unbuckle my seatbelt, open the door, and throw my body onto the streets. i couldn't stay in there any longer. it inflicted too much pain, pain i was unable to handle.

for a minute, i focused on her to get my mind of the accident. i thought of her at school; laughing along with her friends, the light in her eyes when she smiles, and the blush that creeps on her face when she read the 'secret admirer' notes i would leave in her locker.

my grip on the edge of my seat loosened, my shoulders relaxed, my frown eased. my breaths calmed down and i could slowly feel oxygen reaching my lungs. i hadn't realized that for the whole drive from the hospital to my neighbourhood, i had been in the same position. my eyes would open and squeeze shut every once in a while, but i hadn't changed positions since the very first turn we took.

and after this whole time, i was still willing to take a whole other trip back to the saddening hospital, just to see her. i want to see her again. i have to see her.
