Irisia took a deep breath. "Why didn't you tell them about the prophecy?" Ryliel asked. He was frowning, not understanding the sudden change of plans.

"Let's break the prophecy down again." Irisia said. She had sat down on her bed while Ryliel stood. He stared down at her in obvious confusion. "Okay," He said, deciding to humor her.

"So, what the prophecy essentially states, is that if an angel drags the devil's true love up to heaven and kills him or her up in heaven, and tosses his or her still beating heart into the hole leading straight down to hell, then somehow it will cause all human souls from then on who die, guilty and innocent alike, to go to hell. And all the souls already in heaven would essentially become slaves to the angel who'd killed the devil's true love."

Irisia says. "Well, not in those exact words, but yes, that's what it said." Ryliel again confirmed. "But, I don't see how that's changed." Ryliel sat down on the bed beside his sister.

"Samael... he... When we went to get that killer, Paul, he had tried to shoot Chloe. But Samael, he jumped in front of it." Ryliel's eyebrows went nearly up to his hairline. "Really? But, didn't Amenadiel say he was vulnerable around Chloe? He seemed perfectly fine tonight."

"Yes, he was. I've figured out that she somehow makes him feel stronger now, so he's invincible again." "Huh," Ryliel breathed, thinking it over. "Okay, but I don't see how any of that is relevant to the prophecy?"

Irisia put her head in her hands. He still hadn't realized what might have to be done. And she really didn't want to break it to him. But, what else could she do? "Ryliel, he cares deeply about this human. I don't quite understand why, but he does."

He looked at Irisia quizzically. "Yeah, but I thought we already knew that?" Ryliel said slowly. "Well, we did, or, well... I honestly didn't believe it, at first." Irisia admitted.

"Really? I mean, it's pretty obvious from what Amenadiel had told us that Lucifer's head over heels for this woman. And there wouldn't be much of a prophecy if he wasn't."

Irisia sighed. "Yes, I know. But, hearing about it from a third party and actually seeing it are different things." She said defensively. "And, it made me realize something.."

"What?" Ryliel asked.

"Samael wouldn't let anything happen to that human. He would rather die than see any harm come to her." Ryliel was still confused. "Yeah, isn't that a good thing? We're here to stop Marliel from harming Chloe." Irisia shook her head.

"No, Ryliel. We are here to stop the prophecy. By any means necessary."

Ryliel still didn't get it. Ryliel wasn't slow, but he sometimes would not believe something he didn't like unless it was horribly obvious. Irisia sighed, knowing she'd have to make it crystal clear.

"The prophecy states specifically that her heart must still be beating for it to work. If her heart is no longer beating, then there is no prophecy."

Ryliel's eyes widened and jaw dropped when he realized what she was implying. "No!" He stood up suddenly, pacing the room. "That sounds very counterproductive to me!"

He throws his hands up in the air a few times as he talks. "We can't kill her! Remember Dad's #1 rule? No killing humans!" He states.

"I don't see Father anywhere objecting to this. Do you really think he wants Marliel to succeed? And even if he does, screw him! Wouldn't be the first time we've defied him." Irisia said.

The last part was referring to when she and Ryliel had been two of the few angels to side with their little brother during the big rebellion.

"But.. we.. we just can't! It's wrong! She's innocent!" Irisia spoke calmly, as if she was speaking to a child. "Ryliel, this is bigger than Chloe Decker. And if we don't stop the prophecy, what do you think will happen to her soul? Killing her now and sending her to heaven would be much kinder than letting things play out."
