Chapter 3: Going Home?

Peeta P.O.V.

Katniss is getting really pissed off at me. It's actually quite funny to watch.

But another thing is that she keeps taking back to the commander and he doesn't like that. He said that the next time she talks back to him or gets in a fight with me, she's either going to have to go home, or gets demoted from her job now, to one of the lowest jobs.

I never meant for it to be like this, okay maybe I did, but not the going home part, I don't want that part. I think.

The thing about Katniss is that she's all about work and I don't why, but I know she is and my curiosity is hitting its peak.

She is a very pretty women, but we're enemies, or to her we are anyway. I don't mind her, I just want her job.

Gale seems like an okay guy and seems really involved in Katniss' life. I wonder if he's her boyfriend?

They look a lot alike with their grey eyes and brown hair, olive skin. But there's something that's telling me that they aren't dating and that she doesn't want to, but Gale seems a little more into her.

Right now I'm on my way to the "pit" where we eat our lunch. As I walk in I see my buddy Finnick at the table we usually sit at with Castor, Messalla and Johanna.

I learned that Finnick has a wife at home, Annie and he has a son named Flynn who's 3. Castor has a brother at home that is unable to speak so he couldn't join the army as well and that Messalla has a girlfriend at home, Julie.

I'm closest to Finnick, but I'm also with Johanna, who says that she has a boyfriend but won't tell me who he is.

I get my lunch, consisting of a turkey sandwich, a apple, granola bar and water.

Not the best lunch, but it will have to do. I sit down next to Finnick, who is talking to Johanna from across the table. I just wait for their conversation to be over so I can start one, but they look like their in an intense one. Oh well.

"Hey Peet, you here that Everdeen might be getting sent home" everyone at the table looks at me.

"I did, actually" I take a bite from my apple.

"And that if she leaves it means that you become head soldier" he raises his eyebrow.

"Really, I mean, I hoped for that, but wow" I can't believe I might get to be head soldier.

"Yep" I'm still sitting there in shock, that is until I hear my name called through the intercom to go to the commanders office.

"Oooo, good luck" Messalla pats my back.

Is this about me being head soldier? My classes I teach? Did I do something wrong? Many thoughts are swirling around in my head at this moment.

I walk through the commanders door to see Katniss standing in front of his desk yelling at him as he yells back.

Oh no. this can't be good and its obviously about me. I stand there quietly, listening to them scream their heads off at each other.

I try to time some it out, that is until I hear commander yell

"THATS IT, YOUR GONE HOME"

Oh shit.
