"you should really think about dating" my friend lexie said standing under the hoop
"no. now pass me the ball"
i was out of breath, i've been playing basketball for the past three hours trying to get my mind off my last break up. you'd think being a hot, athletic, musician and so on would benefit you to not get cheated on but i guess not.
"Quinn come on! it was last year, you don't need no white man in your life!" she said passing back the ball
"you right, but it's hard to forget about him when his face is everywhere" i said shooting the ball
"maybe think twice before dating someone famous"
she's right. dating someone famous makes a breakup 100% more unbearable because they are talked about everywhere especially when you live in los angeles. anyways i think you'd enjoy this more if you knew what i looked like at this moment. well one i have curly hair but it's short so it's like an afro, i'm black. may i say, i glow great on the sun and right now i'm wearing a red sports bra and some black sweatpants.
"dude i'm tired can we go get some ice cream or something" lexie asked
"girl you know i love ice cream let's go"
lexie passed me my sweater and we made our way to the ice cream shop that was in lexie's neighborhood highland park. i've only been here a couple times. i live a couple minutes out. we got to the shop and it was kind of empty only like two families sitting at the tables. i ordered some ice cream and sat down at a table with lexie. the shop was pretty silent until these two girls came in one of the families started mumbling looking over at one of the girls. at least i think it's a girl they had a hoodie on and their back was turned to me so i couldn't see.
"again you should really think about dating" lexie said eating her ice cream
"dude i said no what's so bad with being an independent woman" i laugh
"nothing nothing i'm just saying you need to move on."
my gaze went behind lexie focusing on the two girls that came in. the one girl i didn't see was facing my direction. to make it more visually clear their table was behind lexie's back. the girl was pale she had blue-ish hair, blue eyes. man she looked down right dead but she was hot. she was laughing with her friend eating her ice cream i think she noticed me staring cause her face got serious and she stared back at me. she's kinda scary.
(a/n picture for reference)
"what are you looking at?" lexie asked me"nothing i was just zoning out" i lied
"oh really" she laughed
"sure" i said suspiciously
we both finished our ice creams and lexie took the cups to the trash she said she'd be a while because her friend worked there. so alas i was left to look at my phone and not look like a weirdo staring at that girl. i did take a quick glance noticing her friend was gone leaving absolutely nothing in between us. i looked back down at my phone and heard a chair move. and felt the chair lexie was sitting in move assuming it was her i looked up and smiled then noticed it was the girl. i was confused obviously it's not everyday someone random sits in front of you at an ice cream shop. we just stared at each other for a couple seconds me with my bitch face and her with her death stare.
"can i- can i help you" i asked
"i was going to ask you the same thing" she smirked biting her lip
a flirt.
"im straight" dont attack me it just flew out of my mouth plus is was true i have never dated a woman in my life
"that's cool me too" she laughed
man what does this chick want?
"billie, o'connell" she smiled reaching out her hand
"quinn perez" i responded shaking her hand
"cute"
she got out of her chair met back up with her friend and left the shop. that was the weirdest encounter with a person i have ever had in my life. lexie came back to the table.
"you ready to go?" she asked me
"yeah"
we went to the car and the sun was barely setting. still confused i got into the passengers seat and sighed deeply.
"the neighborhood is small right?" i asked lexie
she nodded starting up the car
"why?" she asked
"do you know a girl named billie" i asked
"the only girl i know of named billie that lives here is billie eilish she's a celebrity but i haven't met her" she responded
we were now getting out of the parking lot and driving to her house i was spending the next couple of days at her house because i was trying to find a place to live in.
"hmm i met a girl named billie when you were in the back but her last name was o'connell so you probably don't know her" i said pulling out my phone looking up the user name billieoconnell but nothing came up
"yeah no you met billie eilish she's super famous i don't know how you haven't heard about her, her last name is o'connell, eilish is her middle name"
"what the hell what's she famous for, her voice is deep an her style is baggy so probably R&B or something right" i asked
"no dude she's literally a pop girl, and how'd you meet her anyways" lexie laughed
"she just came up to me" i said
"well i know i said you should avoid celebrities but man if she asks you on a date you have to say yes"
"girl i'm straight" i scoffed
"never hurts to try"
