Chapter 13 Zoo

I wasn't sure exactly what would be a good date spot that wouldn't end badly. I thought about movies but there were no current good educational ones airing. There wasn't much success with eating out either. I'm dead broke and there was no way I was gonna be able to afford a fancy restaurant.

After an hour of reading articles about popular dating websites, I finally said, fuck it. After selecting check out and pressing the confirm button I was now in possession of two virtual tickets for the local zoo. Whether Reji would enjoy being surrounded by animals I didn't care. After seeing a picture of some cute adorable penguins my mind was made up.

After checking out I checked the clock only to see it was already way past midnight and tomorrow was Friday or rather today was. Dropping dead on my bed I let myself be taken by sleep.

As usual, I woke up to the annoying sound of an alarm clock and rushed to get ready. After that, I was out the door and on my normal walk to school.

Upon getting there I was grabbed and rushed to a secluded corner. My captor or should I say captors was none other than Subaru and Ayato.

"Oi, what's this about a date with that four eyes?" Ayato says while glaring.

While Ayato goes to question me, Subaru remains silent.

Rolling my eyes I decided to finally shut Ayato up. "Listen you tomato, Reiji and I are gonna enjoy our date and I am gonna see those penguins and that's that."

After that, I shove my way past Ayato and Subaru and head to class.

The rest of the day is surprisingly normal. First is a bit awkward since Subaru doesn't talk and refuses to look at me but oh well. In algebra, I confirm with Reji the time and meet-up place for our date. History is pretty peaceful since Shu sleeps through the whole class. The only class I was worried about was creative writing but lucky for me the teacher and our work kept us busy so there was no chance for Ayato's interrogation.

With that, I am free and ready to get home and mentally prepare myself for tomorrow's date. All it was was a little trip to the zoo, what could go wrong?

The rest of the day I spent my time preparing an acceptable outfit for the zoo and packed a small backpack with the stuff I would need. The rest of the night I spent watching romance anime in preparation. I say that but to be honest I just wanted an excuse to rewatch brothers conflict. After all that I went to bed.

My alarm went off and my eyes fluttered open. Somehow I had managed to wake up at a reasonable time and had enough time left to spare to get ready in peace.

I washed my face and then closely inspected myself for any evil pimples. Thankfully none popped up overnight. Next, I shimmied into some jeans and then threw on a flannel. After that, I grabbed my small backpack and threw it on.

With that, I was out the door and heading to the nearest bus stop. Reiji had offered to pick me up himself and take me but after my last teleportation, I wasn't about to have a round two.

The bus ride wasn't too long and pretty soon I arrived. Already standing at the meet-up place was Reji. After confirming I was a bit early and not late I hurried over to him.

I'm the first to speak. "I hope you weren't waiting long. I would have hurried more had you told me you were gonna be here early."

To my shock, Reji gives me a very small smile very small but it's a genuine smile. "I've only been here a few minutes no need to feel bad Ms.(L/N)"

After our greetings, we get in the line and I show the people our virtual tickets on my phone. Were then given a map and wristbands allowing us entrance. We pause at the entrance and look at the map to decide where to go first.

"Is there any animal, in particular, you'd like to see?" Reji asks while eyeing the map.

Right away I snap my head to look him in the eyes and a huge smile forms on my face. There are probably stars in my eyes as well.

"Penguins." Is all I say in reply as I grab Reijis hand and start to drag him with me to find the penguins.

Little did I know we were being followed and our peace would soon be interrupted.
