I looked at the items, unsure of what was happening. I knew this couldn't be part of the tests. Yet it as I looked around I noticed something. The control panel seemed to be sparking. Well the spark was just....there. Time appeared to be paused.

I reached forward and swiped at the hammer, only to find it dissapere along with the other things. The hammer appeared again in my hands and my first instinct was to hit the glass with it. As soon as I struck the glass however, an alarm went off. I put my hands up, waiting for the executives to say I had failed. Yet I still stood there.

Again time froze. But this time, I saw a message that said "Geez! Why hit so hard?". Next to it was a button that said "Retry". I looked around, confused, and swiped at the retry. Immediately I found the items in front of me again. The glass was intact. I swiped at the top hat. In my hands was a top hat. I put a hand in it and saw my hand come out of a of a hole beside the emerald. The emerald fell through the hole and into the hat, which I dropped. I picked up the emerald and carried it over to the door that required a pin. I put in the pin and left the vault.  I was met with the executives, including Mr Copperbottom, Mr Right, Mr Svensson and my mother.

Reginald: Very good work there Hannah. You may leave now, while we evaluate your score. You will know if you join or not from the letter you will receive tomorrow.

I left the trials area and went straight to my room. Then I called Austin over, in hopes he would know what had happened.

........

Austin: Wait hold on. You're telling me that time froze? And that some items appeared in front of you?

Hannah: Yeah.

Austin: I mean....it sounds crazy. But then that room was weird too.

Hannah: Speaking of which, what do you think that room is?

Austin: I don't know. Maybe we should go inside again and find out.

In the strange room......

Hannah: Sooo.....how do we find our answers?

Austin: Ask?

The next hour or so, was just us trying everything to get an answer. We tried asking, thinking and even looking around. It was quite fireing and we were getting ready to give up when I had an idea.

Hannah: What If we tried the eye scanner?

Austin looked at me, probably thinking I had gone mad. I gave him a look that said ' Trust me.'. We went back into my mom's room and I bent down. The scan started and I felt weird. Like somebody was gently rubbing a feather over my eye.

Eventually the door opened again. However, this time it showed a large room with many computers, tables, chairs and shelves full of books. We both walked in and, as the door closed behind us, the weird feeling I had grew. It felt like I knew this place.

Austin: Okay. Maybe the books or computers have some answers.

Hannah: Let's check the books first.

We went over to the shelves and pulled down book after book. They were mainly just classic books, like "The art of war","Parry Hotter" and even "To kill a mocking bird". There was also a few picture books that just seemed to show things my parents must've had photos of. Finally Austin called me.

Austin: Hey Hannah. Look what I found.

I went over to see what it was he had found.
