AFTER GREETING THE HOST, they settled on the soft couch beside each other. Zach, the interviewer, began his introduction to the show. "Welcome to the Zach Sang Show. Today we're here with two very talented guests, Sabrina Carpenter and River Gomez," he says, welcoming the two artists. "Thank you for being here," he says to them.

"Thanks for having us," Sabrina responded.

"Where's Dan?" River asks, growing curious when she finds that the man hadn't been playfully picking on her when she first walked through the door.

"He's on vacation right now." River nods in recognition.

"Dan, if you end up watching this, you better party hard enough for the both of us, dude," River states into the mic. Sabrina delivers a swift punch to the singer's side, causing her to yelp out.

"I didn't even do it that hard," the blonde says, watching as her friend dramatically moves away from her.

"This is child abuse. You know that, right?" River says to the blonde. Sabrina rolls her eyes, ignoring her shenanigans.

"Let us get this over with." Sabrina gestures toward the twenty-five-year-old brunette. He snickers at the pair before introducing both young ladies and their projects released so far in the past year.

Luckily for the two artists, he hadn't mentioned the drama rumors that brewed between the girls. As the interview moved forward, River switched her position to make herself more relaxed and comfortable. She settled her back against the leg of the couch, limbs spread out across Sabrina's lap. So far, the questions were about Sabrina. Which River didn't mind at all since she liked the attention focused on someone other than herself?

As time moved forward, the attention had shifted to River as well. Only a few had been a tad personal, but not at the point where it made either of them uncomfortable. He asked about many things, ranging from their work, dreams, events, even some ridiculous ones that caused them to erupt into laughter.

"So, River," Zach began. "There have been some rumors spreading around recently."

An edgy yet confused look is written over their faces as they glance at each other. River could tell where this was heading from a mile away. She had spoken too soon, it seemed.

Recognizing their confused expressions, Zach clarifies, shifting his gaze in between his guests. "People are saying that something is going on between the two of you."

And there it was, the topic they have been hoping to avoid this entire time.

"Is it true?" The question was directed to River this time.

Sabrina sighs, brushing a hand over her face as she thinks of a way to answer without necessarily admitting to anything. She glances over to River, whose demeanor changed quite fast at the question. River was growing a bit uncomfortable with the topic. Neither she nor Sabrina had even brought it up with one another at all, as they had an unspoken agreement with each other that they wouldn't bring it up, at least until River deemed herself ready to have it.

Her focus was now on her hands in her lap, wanting nothing more than to crawl into a ditch and never leave. Sabrina looked at River in worry. Noticing her discomfort and the prominent body language that she didn't want to speak, Sabrina takes River's hand into her own, giving it a light squeeze. The small action causes her to face the blonde, giving her a small smile to reassure her that she is okay.

Sabrina sends her a look, silently asking if it was okay for her to answer the question. She gets a slight nod in response. She shifts in her seat, coughing awkwardly before going to speak. "There was a point in time where we had a couple of dilemmas, one partially regarding my ex-boyfriend. We did take a break from each other for a bit until this one over here surprised me on tour," the blonde explains. Lightly shoving her friend as they both giggle slightly.

"Yeah, we're still working on our friendship and everything, but we're good," River adds. The term 'friendship' felt weird coming from her mouth. Even though that is what they technically are still despite their feelings for one another.

Zach nods his head. "Is that all it is, though?" He asks, his curiosity getting the best of him.

"What do you mean?" River asks.

"I mean, don't get me wrong, it's none of our business, or anything but the chemistry I've seen between the two of you is something else," he explains, wanting to make it clear that he meant no harm.

"We're just best friends." River nods in agreement at the blonde's statement. Zach sensed that there was nothing he could say for them to explain further. And he respected that, rapidly adjusting his small stack of papers in front of him, he moves on.

"I saw that there was a post about you being in a movie. Can you tell us more about that?" He asks Sabrina.

"I wish I could, but I don't know much about the role I will be playing in the film," the blonde answers. "I just found out when I woke up this morning."

"Ah, I see. Well, congratulations on your newfound role."

"Thank you."

They converse for another fifteen minutes. River stayed quiet for the remainder of the interview, only adding in some small comments now and then just so that she would seem engaged in what was going on. Sabrina noted the lack of response from the young artist sitting beside her but chose not to acknowledge it until later. Something had been bothering her, and the blonde had an idea of what it may be.

"It seems like our time together has run out," Zach announces when he glances down at his phone to check the time. After gesturing to the cameramen to end the recording, he moves to bid the two celebrities goodbye. Zach gives a quick hug to Sabrina and moves on to River. As they were in the embrace, he apologized to her for asking the question as he never meant to make her uncomfortable in any way. Letting go, River assures him that he is fine and is doing his job.

Once they had all of their belongings, the pair exited the building and into River's car.
