Ashton's POV

While I was talking to Michael, Calum and Luke asking where I'm suppose to go for English, I heard a loud thump. I looked back from Michael and them and I saw this girl who fell and seems like she hit her head hard on the ground. Michael, Luke, and Calum were laughing at her and same with everyone else I don't get why it's not funny she just got hurt. I started walking to her to see if she's okay but Michael pulled me back "what do you think your doing?" Michael says while pulling my arm back. "I'm gonna see if she's okay. Is that a crime?" I say while yanking my arm away from Michael and walking to her. "Hey! Are you okay?" I say concerned "uh yeah I'm fine" she said I could tell she's lying. She tries to get up but fails and hits her head again. "Here let me help you" I say while putting my hand out for her to grab. She hesitates but grabs my hand and I help her up. "Thank you" she kinda whispers but she smiles at me. "No problem" I say while smiling at her. "I'm Ashton, Ashton Irwin." I say while smiling at her and looking into her big brown eyes. "I'm Melissa, Melissa Haggerty." She says while smiling and blushing. Damn she's cute. She puts her hand out for me to shake, first I got confused on what's going on and then I took her hand and shook her hand and said "nice to meet you Melissa" still shaking her hand. "Nice to meet you to Ashton" she says and let's go of my hand. "I'll see you around yeah?" I say while scratching the back of my neck. "Yeah, thanks again" she says and I walk back to Michael, Calum and Luke. Why was I nervous? Why is everyone staring at me? "Why is everyone staring at me?" I say confused "because you just helped the geek in the school dipshit! Gosh your gonna make us look like complete dorks and idiots. Don't help her or even talk to her!" Calum says angry. "Sorry! I didn't know but why are you even bullying her? Why are people making fun of her? She did nothing wrong well I don't think so. I know I've only been here for for 10 minutes, I just think she hasn't done anything wrong." I spat back turning around and start walking to English class. When I got there I saw Melissa at a table my herself reading something on her iPhone she has earbuds in her ears listening to some type of music. I go up to her and tap her shoulder.

Melissa's POV

I was listening to Welcome to my life by Simple plan. I was reading Unpredictable on WattPad (seriously like best book ever read it, it's amazing) I felt someone tap on my shoulder, I looked up and saw Ashton looking at me smiling. Why is he so god damn hot? I think to myself. "Can I uh sit with you?" He asks "yeah umm sure" I say while moving over making room for him to grab a chair and place it under the table so he can sit next to me. I turned off my music and put my iPhone into my bag to be polite and start asking questions. "So how are you?" I ask "I'm good" He says while playing with his hands "you?" He asks me while looking up at me I can feel my face turning red. "I'm fine" I say while looking away. "You sure?" He asks "I mean you hit your head pretty hard and you don't seem so happy" he says "yeah I'm fine don't worry about me" I say while getting my books out. "Okay good" he says. I can feel him still staring at me making me blush even more. I just met the kid and he's already trying to figure out what's wrong. Kinda weird cuz no one cares about me. I know my parents don't especially my dad he hates my guts. I don't get why Ashton is talking to me. I'm nothing special. "I know what your thinking" he says while making me look at him. I give him a confused look. "Your thinking why I'm talking to you aren't you? Yeah I've just met you but I think your pretty cool. Your pretty, very pretty. I think we are gonna be great friends thats why" he says while smiling. Is he a mind reader? "Yeah I was" I laugh a little "I think we are gonna be great friends too and thanks for calling me cool and pretty even if I don't believe it myself" I say the last part like a whisper while looking down playing with my fingers. "What was that?" He says a little worried "nothing" I lie "Melissa tell me please" he says "I said even if I don't believe it myself" I repeated myself. "You are. Don't let anyone else tell you different okay? You are pretty and cool." He says while smiling, I smile back and say thanks.

All the students came in class and the teacher came and told us what to do. After English I had art and then math, lunch, Gym, language and science. All the classes I have with Ashton. Surprisingly he asked me for my number at the end of the day while we were walking out. I think me and him are gonna be great friends. I started walking to my car but before I got there Luke pushed me down and started kicking me. Calum came right after him and he picked me up and put my hands behind my back. Michael came running and started to punch my rib cage and stomach. Luke was kicking me telling me how worthless and useless I am. How I should go kill myself. I deserve to rot in hell. There were people gathering around me and the three boys, laughing at me and enjoying the "show". Luke threw me down and Michael came really close to my face he said "if you ever go near ashton or talk to him again I'll break your leg again got it?" He growls and kicks me on my side one more time and leaves. I stay laying there in pain but I hear someone "MELISSA!" Ashton yells while running towards me "Ashton I'm fine" I cough out with trying to get out but failed "I'm taking you home where is your car?" He says grabbing my car keys that were out of my bag "it's over there" I say while pointing to it. I tried to get up again but failed. I felt two muscular arms picking me up gently. I put my arms around Ashton's neck and put my head on his chest. I get placed in the passengers seat and Ashton closes the door and gets in the drivers seat. The drive was silent. Until he Spoke "who did this to you?" He asks a little more demanding. "They will kill me if I told you" I say trying to hold my tears back. "Tell me Melissa I'll make sure they won't hurt you again. Who did this to you?" He asks again more worried "Promise you won't do anything?" I ask while trying to keep a steady voice. "Yeah I promise" he says. I take a huge breathe and say "Michael, Luke and Calum" I say while crying now. "Those assholes! Why the fuck are they hurting you?!" He says while grabbing the steering wheel tighter "I don't know." I say in sobs "Melissa don't cry it's okay I'm here, your not alone" he says while trying to calm me down. "Thank you" I whisper. "That's my house" I say while pointing to it. "I really don't wanna go home tho." I say while looking at my hands nervously "well you could come to my house when your ready you can go home" he says politely "okay" I say. "Thanks again" I say. "No problem that's what friends are for right?" He says while looking at me and smiling. I smile back "yeah haha yeah" I giggle.
