Weeks went by and Dream was still unable to move his legs. His parents took care of him, and made sure to keep him company.
Drista was practicing her archery day and night. Often coming home way past her curfew. Her parents were mad, but never too mad. They knew it was her way of dealing with the stress. Though Drista didn't think her bow would be enough to fight a dragon.
"You're home late again." Her mother tried to lecture her.
Drista just walked past her mother. "I know, find something better to worry about." She went to her bedroom and curled up on her bed. Falling asleep in her day clothing. Not bothering to change into pajamas.
The next morning Drista snuck down in the basement. That's where Dream kept his things. If she was sneaky enough she'd be able to take his sword. "If I was a sword where would I be?" She asked herself, while scanning the room. She found it hanging on the wall by a family portrait. "Ah, obviously. Drista, you idiot." She took the sword down carefully. Holding it felt awkward, she wasn't confident with it. That wouldn't be a problem. She already had plans to visit someone that could help.
On her way back up the stairs she heard a knock on the door. Her siblings were outside, and her parents were gone to meet with a doctor. They were actively looking for new medical procedures to help Dream. "Guess I'm getting that." She went to the door and opened it without checking who it was. Luckily for her it was just George and Sapnap.
"Oh hi George... Sapnap." She knew these guys well, they have been friends with her brother for years. "Are you just hearing about Dream now? You are so slow."
"Whatever, is he here?" George didn't have time for her attitude.
"Where do you think he's gonna go?" Drista sarcastically asked him.
"I don't know?" George looked down. "Is that his sword?"
Drista remembered she was holding the sword, it was definitely not hard to notice. "yeah..." She had to think of an excuse. "He asked me to sharpen it for him, since he needs to rest."
Sapnap shrugged "okay...but why does he need it sharpened if he's not able to get out of bed?"
"He'll eventually get out of..." Drista knew he wouldn't be walking on his own again. "Dream's paralyzed, he can't walk." She said quickly, knowing it would get them off her case.
"What?!" Sapnap yelled, and started going to Dream's room. Dragging George with him.
Drista slipped out the door and moved quickly across town. People gave her weird looks, but she tried to act like she was supposed to be holding the sword.
She made it to her destination. An old weapon shop at the edge of town. It had been in business for generations. Everybody knew the family well. Drista pushed the door open and stepped inside. A little bell rang, letting the merchant know someone was inside.
The merchant came out from the back room, not expecting to see a little girl. "Uh...hello?"
"Hey Techno." Drista was familiar with this guy. He handcrafted the sword in her hands.
Techno searched his mind for the girl's name. Then he noticed the sword in her hands. "Dream's sister, right?"
"Yeah...you forgot me?" She giggled.
He shrugged. "I've been spending too much time with my neighbor. The man can't hold onto a name for more than a day. Suffers from memory loss or something, what can I help you with?"
"Well...kind of a long story." Drista walked over to the counter.
"Is there something wrong with the sword?" Techno had heard Dream was injured, he just didn't know how severe. He assumed he sent his sister to get his weapon fixed.
"No...don't think so." Drista looked down, it looked fine to her.
"Then what's the problem?" The man tapped on the counter. His excessive rings shined in the light of a lantern.
"I need you to teach me how to use this."
Technoblade laughed awkwardly, thinking it was a joke. He stopped when he realized the girl was serious. "Wait...huh?"
"Oh stop laughing. I'm sick of people laughing at me. I want you to teach me how to use this."
"I don't just teach kids how to use weapons in my free time. Get Dream to teach you when he's recovered." Techno didn't help others without gaining something in return.
"I...I can't. He's paralyzed...even if he wasn't, he wouldn't teach me." She frowned.
Technoblade looked surprised for once. "Paralyzed...damn, what a tragedy. Who will fight the dragons off now?"
"Me..."
"You?" Technoblade leaned over the counter to see how she was holding the sword. "Not gonna lie, that's adorable."
"Shut up, I could fight a dragon just as well as Dream. We have the same blood."
"Same blood...but what about the muscles, skill, and motivation?" Technoblade pushed his glasses up.
"I...have those too! Maybe I'm not as strong as him yet, but that's not my fault. I'm only young." Drista laid the sword on the counter. "Will you teach me or not? Please...I need to get revenge for my brother."
Technoblade watched her get sad, and sighed in pity. "Alright, maybe I will. What's in it for me?"
Drista had already thought about this. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a gold ring. She had gotten it years ago for a birthday. Obviously she never cared for it. "This..."
The man loved gold. "Real gold?"
"Do I look like a peasant to you?"
"Hm..." Technoblade took the ring and licked it, determining that it was gold. "Ah, it is...okay, you have a deal." He shook her hand to make the deal official.
"Thanks, you won't regret this."
"I sure hope not."
"We going to pretend you didn't just lick that ring?"
"Yup."

Drista started her training with Technoblade later that week. She was blown away by his insane combat skills. He could dismember a man before he could blink.
Technoblade was impressed with Drista's dedication to learning the skill. She took everything about the lessons seriously. Even just holding the sword properly was important to her.
Techno taught her how to fight another person with a sword first. Deciding that was a good place to start. Teaching her the different attacks she could do, and how to block an attack with the sword.
"Thanks for teaching me all this...but, this doesn't seem like it'll help me fight a dragon. No offense but...have you ever actually fought a dragon?" Drista asked the man.
Technoblade smirked. "Who do you think taught your brother how to fight like that?"
"Woah...wait...really?" She never knew where her brother learned his talent. She just assumed it happened magically overnight.
"Yeah, don't lose focus now. I'll teach you how to-"
"If you can fight dragons, why don't you? You could of helped my brother." Drista was confused as to why the skilled man wouldn't fight dragons more often.
"I...I don't fight dragons anymore. I retired from that fast."
"Why, did something happen?" Drista urged him to say more.
"Not important, let's get back to training. If you want to get to dragon level, you've got months of hard work ahead of you."
"Months?!"
"If not years."
"Years?!"
"Heh, you were confident earlier. Don't give up now. You're my latest investment."
Drista sighed "and if the dragon comes into town before then?"
"I'll step up and fight it unwillingly." Techno replied and pushed his hair out of his face. "Come on now, I want to start teaching you how to use a shield. Shields are very important, especially when fighting a dangerous dragon."
