It was a room carpeted with deep blue velvet. There was a chandelier on the ceiling sparkling in the dark. The fireplace wasn't lit. The lights were out too. This would've been an office earlier. There were bookshelves, which had household stuff instead of books. Bulletin boards stuck with newspaper cuttings with geographical and topographical maps instead of notices and memos. A few blankets and sleepbags strewn across the floor here and there. There weren't any tables or chairs anywhere. Fortunately, there was a tap for drinking water and a refrigerator with food supply that might last for two or three days. In a corner there was a door leading to a really small toilet stall. It was as if the whole place had been arranged as a camp for waiting out a natural calamity.

I don't remember how I got there. Standing across the hall reading the newspaper cuttings was my classmate and long term crush Nate. He was a shy and composed guy. But of the dreamy hot kind. We used to exchange a few glances occasionally. But in person, we were always formal and polite. I was sure he knew that I crushed on him. But neither of us ever acknowledged it, since we know nothing would ever work between us since we hailed from two entirely different communities and our parents would be against it, if it ever comes to a long term relationship. Anyway, I couldn't understand why he was here with me in the same room.

I inspected the newspaper cuttings on the wall near me. From what I could understand from all that, I am stuck here in a parallel universe with this guy and there might be no going back, atleast for the time being!
