Sophia Elliot

Harry and I drove in a comfortable silence, Harry's eyes being focused on the road ahead of us, apart from a few glances at me that I had caught in my peripheral vision whilst I kept my gaze firmly out of my passenger window.

"Soph, you okay?" Harry checked, whilst glancing over, making me turn my head to look at him to nod with a smile as the radio hummed throughout the car. Satisfied with my response, he nodded his head once and turned back to the road, making me turn my head to look back out of the window, our gazes breaking apart once again.

I gazed out of the window, my thoughts racing as I watched the trees whizzing past the window as we drove, my mind drifting back to last night, causing me to visibly shudder and I could feel Harry's gaze back on me as I could feel the burn of his eyes on me. I shook my head slightly to break away from them, turning my head to the front of the car, making Harry do the same while clearing his throat, probably hoping I didn't notice him looking at me.

"You want the aux?" Harry broke our silence, causing me to look over at him with a confused look as he glanced over at me and laughed at my expression, a warm smile radiating from his face as the sun beamed down on him. "What's the confused face for, love?"

My eyes almost widened at the use of the word 'love' but I shook it off and tried not to react to it, despite my heart racing a bit faster and my face blushing at the use of it. I cleared my throat and answered his question.

"How do you have an aux? This car's too old," I chuckled at his reaction to my question, also making me feel slightly stupid at that moment in time, "How can it have an aux if the car's from like the 50s?" I raised an eyebrow at his comment, hoping that I seem like I know what I'm talking about. I don't, but hopefully he wouldn't know that.

Harry laughed at my comment, making me huff and smack his arm nearest to me on the wheel. I couldn't help but smile though and make a small chuckle pass my lips as he sighed after his little laughing fit. "I had it restored," he smiled, before shrugging his shoulder, "well, my dad and I both restored together it when I was little." He smiled at what seemed like a fond memory, before it faltered and his face grew a melancholy expression.

The smile that was once on my face also faltered and I reciprocated his glum expression, while wanting to ask about his father but he didn't seem to want to. He glanced over at me and I instantly wiped the sad expression from my face and gave him a small smile, making him mirror it in return.

He cleared his throat again and turned back to the front of the car. "Yeah, so uh my dad and I restored it together when I was little and he always said that I would have it one day, so... uh, yeah..." His voice trailed off and the car grew silent again, also a little less comfortable than the last one.

"It's a really cool car," I decided to break the silence with a positive tone, trying to make it the least bit awkward I could. "So, by you saying you 'both' restored it, does that mean your dad did most of the work and you just say you helped?" I laughed, trying to lighten the suddenly darker mood within the car. This made a laugh erupt from Harry as he looked over at me, causing me to reciprocate his laugher, although raising an eyebrow to suggest to him that I know for a fact what I had just suggested was the case.

"I don't know what you're talking about," He smiled smugly, making me roll my eyes at his smugness, not believing him one bit. "I definitely did not just stand on the sidelines and 'supervise' everything he was doing. Definitely not. I did tons of work. I practically did everything." He held his head up and smirked, not letting his smug expression leave his face as he turned round to me while I rolled my eyes again, smiling and shaking my head. I knew that none of that was true.
