Chapter 5

A small spoiler on Tsukaichi's family. 

Narrator's P.O.V.

After a few minutes of waiting, the person Tsukauchi was waiting for arrived. The heavy door to the room revealed a beautiful woman. 

She had long black hair and a beauty mark in the corner of her mouth. 

She approached the two sitting at the table in the middle of the room. "What took you so long?" Tsukauchi had asked. (Y/n) looked at the two confused. "Sorry! I found this really nice sweets place. Might check it out later." 

Tsukauchi sighed as he turned towards the young girl in front of him. 

(Y/n)'s P.O.V.

Who is that lady? She kinda looks similar to Tsukauchi. She sat right in front of me and smiled. 

She looks like the type of person who wouldn't run out of energy. She put her hand out and said "Hello! My name is Tsukauchi Makoto. I am his sister." She pointed at Naomasa. 

"(Y/n) (L/n)," I said.  I hesitated to shake her hand but did it anyway. Before I could take my hand away, she held onto it. 

'What is she doing?' I looked over at Naomasa and saw that he wasn't doing anything. "Sorry, do you mind if I held onto your hand for a while? It's for the investigation." 

'Are these two the type of people who have fetishes with children?' I slowly nodded my head. 

'That better not be true cause I don't wanna shed blood in a police station.' 

"So, I'm going to be asking similar questions from earlier. I want you to try your best and answer the questions as truthfully as possible." Naomasa said. 

I nodded my head in response. (a/n: for those of you who don't know, Makoto's quirk is called Polygraph. It allows her to monitor the psychological signals by touching them and see if they are lying or not. She can't tell if they are lying if they are relaxed or if the person in question doesn't believe that they are lying. Got the definition from the BNHA wiki.)

"Do you remember anything from the day that your father passed away?" Naomasa asked. I shook my head no. 'To be fair, that was around 9 years ago. And I don't remember the details so..' 

Makoto then looked at Naomasa and shook her head. 'Her quirk must be something similar to a lie detector.'

"Hmm... So are you quirkless?" I almost hesitated but stayed relaxed. My heart rate did pick up a big but it calmed back down. 

"No..." I said, barely a whisper. I looked at Makoto to see if she was able to pick up anything but she smiled back at me as if nothing was wrong. 

'Did they find out?' 

"Were you kidnapped on the day your father had passed away? There was no trace of you getting hurt. The only imprints we were able to find were some old prints on the wall and what looked like some old rags." 

I stared at my hand and said "I don't remember much of what happened that day. When I woke up the next day, all I could tell was that I was in a different place. A different city." 

Naomasa started typing on his laptop.

"This question isn't for the investigation, but I'm curious as to why you decided to renew your id now. If anything, I would've avoided going through this much trouble since it would've felt like too much work." Makoto said. 

Naomasa kinda elbowed her softly in the side. 'To be fair I did think that.' 

"I wanted to go to school." There was silence in the room as they both stared at me with wide eyes. 

"What do you mean?" Makoto said as she looked at me genuinely curious. Naomasa also looked curious as well but tried not to show it. 

"As a kid, I wasn't able to go to school like the other kids my age since our family was poor and my dad was a single father taking care of a child while in dept." 

I could hear the clicking of the keys from Naomasa's laptop as he tries to keep up with my words. 

"Someone suggested me to go to school. At least finish high school. I decided to take the offer and now I'm here." 

Makoto nodded her head in understanding. Naomasa asked, "What school did you have in mind?" 

'Why is he asking?' I thought for a bit before saying, "The only high school I've heard of was this one called UA." 

Makoto's eyes lit up. "OOOOOOO!! Are you trying to be a Hero? Trying to get into the hero course?!" She said as she brought her face closer to mine. 

I felt my anxiety rise with her face so close to mine. Naomasa pulled back Makoto and gave me a nod to answer the question. I steadied my breathing and said, "N-No. I'm not interested in being a hero. I just want to finish high school." 

"I see," Naomasa said. "Since we are having some trouble with your identity and getting you an id, I think it might be a problem." 

Before he could continue, Makoto cut in and said "But, my wonderful brother here can talk to the principal of UA and maybe try to get you in!" 

Naomasa's eyes widen before he pulled Makoto to the corner of the room. They started whispering about something. 

I looked down at my palm. You could see the sweat. 'I should probably apologize for that.' 

A few seconds later, they both sat down in front of me again. Naomasa looked so uncomfortable. 

He clears his throat and starts, "Makoto here suggested that I try to get you admitted into UA. But since we are not completely sure about your identity and do not wish to risk the other students' lives, I will have to inform the other staff at UA about your situation. Although I cannot confirm that you will get into UA." 

My eyes widen with every word he spoke. 'Why is he doing this? I mean probably to keep an eye on me but why?' 

"Y-You don't have to do that. I'm perfectly fine with not attending school. Or even just learning small things would be fine by me." 

Makoto cut me off by saying, "Well, most children are required to have the proper education they need. And after hearing how you were not able to go to school for the past few years, we can't really just let you go".

'Crap. What did I get myself into?' 

"And UA would be the best option since there are many pro heroes teaching there. That is just an extra measure to make sure you don't try to hurt the students there." 

'It's scary how she's able to say that with a smile on her face.' 

I nodded my head. 

Timeskip to an hour later

'Thank God it's finally done. I can't wait to leave this place.' 

"Before we let you go," Naomasa started. "Do you have any way we could contact you?" 

"No," I replied. 

"Oh," Naomasa said. "well, if we do need any more information from you, we will have to visit your residence personally. Don't worry, it'll be either me or Makoto so you don't get startled." 

I nodded my head as I did a half bow. Both Naomasa and Makoto said their farewells and started walking away. 

"Thanks" I whispered right after they left. 

So, I tried to see if Tsukauchi did have the lie detector powers but it wasn't mentioned at all. What I did find out is that his sibling (Tsukauchi Makoto) does have something similar to that quirk. Thank you for following the story so far :))
