The first time Dahlia meets Dean Winchester she is ten.
She is a happy kid, like all the kids are supposed to be. Laughing, running and making a mess of herself every chances she gets. She got bruises all over her legs and arms from climbing trees, falling while playing and hitting all the furniture in her way because she is a kid and kids don't have time to change their itinerary over some chairs or couches. You know how it goes.
She got a big brother, Alex who is three years older than her. Really annoying if you ask her in front of him. But if you ask her when she is alone that's another story. Alex is way too protective, and that's the annoying part for Dahlia, but he is also the one who taught her how to climb those trees and run fast enough so she won every races she did with her friends. He showed her how to steal candies and how to pretend mom said yes so dad would say yes too. She learned from him how to tie her shoes and ride a bike. He is the one who carry her school bag on their way back home when she says it's too heavy, he is the one who pretends there really is a monster under the bed just to fight him off dramatically afterwards so she laughs and knows she is always safe when she is with him.
He is the one who kisses her good night every single night so she can dream of good things.
She may be too young to know how love fully works yet but one thing she knows is that if her brother stopped hiding her favourite plushy she wouldn't have a favourite plushy anymore. What makes it her favourite is the fact that she can spend time with Alex when he pretends to search it with her every time. And every time she knows it's him who hid the purple rabbit and every time she acts like she doesn't know. So, for Dahlia, ten years old, love is searching her favourite plushy with her big brother until they find it and he kisses her good night.
The first time Dahlia meets Dean Winchester, it's June.
For Dahlia's parents holidays doesn't really exist. They own a small motel in Limon, Colorado. Steve and Hannah Jones always lived in the small town and got the motel from Hannah's parents. They are good parents. A little bit too busy for their kids but it's ok, Alex and Dahlia spend most of their time running together in the hallways anyway. They don't really mind.
During the holidays Dahlia also likes to spend her day with Emily, one of the cleaning lady, when her brother is with his friends. They talk all day, the little girl trying to help but really just forgetting every products in every room. Emily doesn't care that when Dahlia is with her she takes more time to do her work because she loves the little girl and her laugh makes the day go faster anyway.
Dalhia is helping, in her own way, Emily when she sees him. While she is sitting outside waiting for Emily to finish cleaning up a room she sees two boys coming her way, one is probably the same age as her brother and the other one seems younger than her. She is happy because there is not a lot of children coming to stay in the motel so maybe she can make friends with them and play hide and seek for as long as they stay.
She gets up, tells Emily she is going to play somewhere else so she doesn't worry, and go find the two boys. Dahlia finds it odd that there is no mom or dad with them because she knows her mom would never allow her or Alex to go alone somewhere but, once again, she is a kid so the only things that matter is finding some new friends to play with.
"'Ellooo !" she sings while the older boy is trying to open room 7. He looks at her for like 3 seconds before going back to his task. "I'm Dalhia !" The green eyed boy doesn't seem to care but the younger one smiles at her and drops his bags on the floor before introducing himself as Sam.
"You have funny eyes." He says after a few seconds of observation, and, yeah she knows. One blue, one brown. Not really common. But he isn't judging or making fun, he is just saying, with a real big smile. So Dahlia asks him if he wants to play hide and seek with her and he accepts but before they can run off the older boy stops his little brother and pull him into the room without a word and well... If you asks Dahlia, he is not really nice, this one. She stays 5 minutes in front of the door without knowing what to do.
So, the first time Dahlia meets Dean Winchester, she is ten years old and she doesn't like him.
