Back at the Casey Residence - Gabby's POV: As I sat in the living room with Matteo, I smiled as I fed him the bottle Matt made. That's when I heard a plate fall onto the ground and shatter. "Matt? You okay?" Matt turned to look at me and nodded. "Just broke one of our plates." I then looked at him. "Okay, are you wearing socks or anything?" Matt looked at his feet and shook his head. "Okay, then stand still and just let me set Matteo down. I will clean it up so you don't cut your feet." Matt nodded and stood still.

Putting Matteo's bottle on the side table, I sighed as Matteo cried. "Sorry buddy, mommy has to fix one of your daddy's messes." I then got up and went to put him in his chair. Turning on the mobile, I hoped that would distract him for a while. I then walked into our bedroom to grab Matt some slippers I recently bought him for this exact reason. Let's just say that while Matt was a really good handyman with regards to construction, he was a little clumsy when it came to handling household items.

Once I had them in my hands, I carried them and a pair of his socks out to him. "Thanks." I smiled and nodded at him. "You should start wearing these in the morning. That way I don't hear you slapping your feet on the ground." He then looked at me. "Sorry." I then nodded before kissing him softly. After kissing him, I walked away to the front closet to get the broom and dust pan so that he could clean it up.

However, Matt though that I was going to clean it up since I saw him go right back to making us some plates. Clearing my throat, I looked at him. "Uhm Matt, this mess here isn't going to clean itself up." Matt turned to look at me. "Think you can do it? I hav...." I looked at him. "Uhm, I have a baby to feed. Sorry if he takes priority over cleaning a mess you made." Matt then nodded and went to grab the broom and dust pan. "Sorry." I then nodded before walking away to go continue feeding Matteo. Picking him up from his chair, I then grabbed his bottle again before sitting down on the sectional. Grabbing a blanket before covering up, I smiled as I started to feed Matteo.

Matteo just grabbed the bottle and started eating pretty well. Matteo was now 10 weeks old and I was surprised at how much hair he had. However, Matt says he has long hair so...I should really expect this. That's when I turned to look at Matt and realized he was right. Now that he wasn't getting haircuts...nor was he shaving his head, his hair was coming out much more and it was really nice. I was perplex and didn't understand why Matt didn't keep it long. I like it.  "Just curious, why do you not like having your hair grown out more?"

Matt looked up at me as he made us some plates. "Well, I guess I could grow it out more now. Why? Do you like me with long hair?" I nodded and smiled. "Maybe not too long but, not buzz cut like you always had. Why do you need it that short anyways?" Matt smiled. "Long hair and fires do not mix." I nodded. "That makes a lot of sense. Boy, do I remember going into those fires when I was a candidate. I always came out drenched in my own sweat." Matt nodded and then smirked. "That was when we broke a lot of the firehouse rules."

I looked at him and smiled, knowing exactly which rule he was talking about. The rule that Officers and Candidates were not allowed to date. I thought it was so stupid. I mean, what if the boyfriend or girlfriend gets promoted in the middle of a relationship? Do they really just expect you to break up just because someone gets a promotion? CFD is stupid that way. Especially considering it's normally the women who suffer. They have to loose their man because they don't want to hold them back. Thank god that didn't happen to us.

After thinking about that for a while, I noticed that Matt was walking over to me. "Just curious, did they change the rule about married couples not being allowed to work at the same firehouse yet? Or is that still on the wish list for married CFD couples?" Matt turned to look at me and then thought about it. "Honestly, I haven't even checked. Boden just let our previous agreement with him stand so, it wasn't a problem for us. Plus, we are paramedics so it must be different."

I nodded and agreed. "You're right. I think married couples are allowed to work as paramedic teams. I mean, after all...who better to treat people than people who already work good together as a team?" Matt nodded and smiled as he wrapped his arm around me before grabbing his food. He then looked at me and smiled as he went to kiss my shoulder. "So listen, I want to talk to you about New Year's Eve. I was looking at that Cabin idea and was hoping to book one for the three of us to just do something different."

I turned to look at him and smiled at the idea of going to a Cabin for New Year's. "Oh really?" Matt smiled. "Well, I would want to maybe leave a few days before because I want to beat the traffic and come back a few days after. The place I found has a hot tub on the deck, a jacuzzi bath tub and a screening room. It's just over the Illinois-Wisconsin state line towards Milwaukee. What would you say I book the December 30th until January 2nd?" I thought about it and smiled. "I love the idea. That way we aren't just going for a night. Matteo would be horrible."

I nodded and smiled. "It's in the woods so we could also go outside with him. Let him really play in the snow for a bit. Well, we play in the snow with him and just relax. I know it's COVID but...we would be away from everybody and it would be fun." I smiled when he said that before going to kiss him. "Listen, how about we eat and then you can show me the place before I agree to anything?" Matt nodded and smiled, grabbing his food so we could eat breakfast that morning and then look at the place he wants to take me for New Year's.
