Fearless One <Valerie's P.O.V.>
Chapter seventeen
"We won't know until your gone?" Sofia paces back and forth. Violett sits across from me on the window seat, her brown dipped in thought.
"I don't know!" I fall onto the bed.
"Kay, let's settle this," Violett gets up and paces beside Sofia, "Do you or do you not like Dominic?"
I scratch the back of my head, "Well, I like that-"
"No no no" Sofia sighs and sits beside me. "Yes or no!"
I bite my lower lip, "I guess that maybe-"
"Yes or NO." Violett yells.
"Yes!" I spit, getting annoyed.
"There, simple as pie." she crosses her arms. "The brake it with Matthew and tell Dominic."
I roll over to face her, "Two things wrong with that. One, I like Matthew and I don't want to 'Brake it', second, Dom doesn't even like me!"
They both laugh "And why do you think that?"
"Well, we'll, " I don't even know. "Becuase."
"Did you, um, look at the book?" Sofia tosses me the leather book. I throw it away with a scowl.
"Yes."
Violett puts her hands on her hips, "Then you would know he loves you and all."
"He doesn't, he loves Vana, not" I gesture to myself, "Me."
They look at each other nervously.
"What?"
Sofia shrugs, "Nothing."
I let it go and walk down the door.
I go to the front door, look around and slip out the door. My feet lead me there before my brain realizes I'm here. Knock knock knock. No one answers the familiar door, so I push in.
The gray hallways great me, the black carpets remind me of all the awful times here. I round corner after corner and open one door. The kitchen. I use to come here and help the cook. He never told me his name, I just called him C. I swing my legs over the gray counter and look at the rest of the kitchen. The red fire place still has orange embers lighting the logs.
I walk back down the hall and to the familiar room. I slowly pry open the door and look in. On the two hay bed sleep two girls. They look about three, one with light brown hair, the other with fire red hair.
I feel the tears fall from my face at the thought of them being next.
"It's okay, it's all right." his voice whispers in my ear. I turn blindly and tuck my head into his chest.
"No! It's not all right." I gasp out a sob. "They're next."
He rubs my back and holds me tight, "I know, I know."
We stand there, me crying in his arms, him holding me close. At some point he picks me up and walks out of the house, "Best not to be seen."
I nod and look at him.
"I have to go, but I'll see you later, okay?" he grasps my chin.
"Okay."
He lightly puts a kiss on my lips. I blush immediately. He snickers at my reddens and goes into the wagon.
"Don't get to sad, one more day then your gone for good!"
I laugh and lean against the wall as he drives down the road.
"I'll see you Parker!" he yells back.
I laugh some more, "And to you, Spencer!"
