My hands fold around the steering wheel, gripping tight, listening to the nonsense going through my head. Cars zoom by fast through the dark sky, lighting up the night. My eyes stare straight, looking in the rear-view mirror once in awhile. The smell of smoke fills the car, due to the fact the windows are up. My hand reaches for my left to roll down the windows, my eyes still on the bright lights speeding in front of me. I push the button down and the windows roll down, filling the car with a breeze and the hum of cars zooming past. "David, roll them windows up!" My father yelled from the passengers seat, cigarette in his mouth. He takes it out of his mouth with his fingers and looks at me. "I said roll them down David!"

I take a look over at him with deep eyes. My hand reaches for the button that makes the windows roll up. They move up slowly, taking the breeze from the car. I sigh loudly, looking straight ahead down the highway. His smoke kept moving in my face, filling my nose with that smell. "Dad, you need to stop." My face turns white thinking of what he could respond with. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see him turn to me and look at me with his angry, gray eyes.

"The last time I checked, David, I was your father. Not the opposite way around." He took the cigarette out of his mouth once again. Blows of smoke came out of his mouth when he coughed each time. The blinker turns on and I swerve into the next lane to get out on the upcoming exit. The tone of my phone rings through out the car and the screen lit up the ceiling. My hand reaches out for it.

"Daniel" I whisper, still looking around at the zooming cars. "Hey" I say holding my phone up to my ear. Daniel was my brother a few years older than me, making him 19.

"You got dad don't you? Mom wants to share something to the family." He said in his usual monotone voice. Loud tv could be heard in the background. I look over at my father who's holding tightly onto his cigarette. Without turning my head back, I respond.

"Yeah. He's here. Were on our way over." I turn my head back and my eyes light up. I swerved into our exit on our right, nearly toppling this car over into the ditch. The wheels screeched as we turned, almost causing the phone to fly from my hand. My dad's cigarette didn't move from his mouth like it didn't phase him we almost crashed.

"David! Are you okay?"

"Were fine Daniel. We'll be there in five." My thumb pressed the end call button and I set my phone down. I sigh loudly and grip my hands onto steering wheel once again.

The rest of the car ride was silence for the most part. My dad fell asleep in about 3 minutes. He stayed up at the bar all night and he decides to call me at 2:30 am to drive him home to get to my mom in the middle of the night. We stop at a stop light once we get off the highway. A white car stopped to the left of us, ready to continue right. The guy driving rolled the passenger window down. He looked me in the eyes with an evil smirk. Then I finally saw who it was. Jacob Lewis. A kid that I got into a fight with last year. Ever since I beat him, he had it out for me.

I look ahead at the light. It turned green for both of us. I went ahead first, trying to beat him. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him still looking at me as he sped up. His white Honda turned right in front of me. My headlight shattered and the metal of the front bumper ripped to shreds. My first reaction should have been to turn to the side of the road and check out my car. But no. My hands gripped tightly again and my foot pressed hard against the pedal. In front of me was his white car, speeding away from me. My car wasn't made for this. At any moment, it could burst into pieces. My engine grumbled loudly as it sped up to Jacob's speed.

"Come on, don't be shy." I say, pressing the pedal to the floor. The light ahead of him turned red before he could turn anymore. He stopped suddenly about 10 feet in front of me. My foot switches pedals and hits the break to the floor. The sound of my tires against the street filled the air and stopped people walking as they stood in amazement.
