I left the house extra early to go apartment hunting with Ray. I didn't feel like answering more questions from my Grandma since I knew she was thinking of more to ask. I dressed comfortably in my PINK hoodie, black yoga pants and pink roshe's. I had my hair in a high pony tail and kept the makeup to a minimum with just lip gloss.
I got into Ray's mustang as he immediately pulled off from the curb. "Morning, sexy."
I looked at him and rolled my eyes playfully. "Morning ugly."
He sucked his teeth and chuckled. Ray knew he was far from ugly and I agree. He was a brown skinned beauty standing about 5'11. One thing that stands out about him is that he's bisexual. I found out a few months ago after catching him making out with this random from the club. Makes sense--most gay guys are sexy as fuck.
"Keep telling yourself I'm ugly. You only convincing yourself." He shrugged.
Ray was no doubt the only person who literally never gave a fuck about what anybody thought. You could tell him about himself and he'd thank you and walk away, still being Ray. That's one thing I envied about him. His attitude. Since he didn't care, he was usually happy instead of walking around feeling insecure.
"Shut up you know you not ugly."
"I know, thank you ma. Where we going first?"
"Pearl Heights. The women is there waiting for me." I slipped out my phone to text her I was on my way.
"Heights? Sound like some rich people shit. You sure you can afford?" He turned the corner.
"Well I am just renting. Not like I'm buying the apartment. She said rent was only a thousand a month. I can afford that if I keep up my game on the pole."
"What about other needs? Not just rent you paying for. You need food, furniture, etcetera. A thousand only paying for the roof over your head."
I sucked my teeth and immediately grew an attitude. "Why you being so negative, Raymond? Can't you see I'm trying to get out my grandma's house? Can't you see I'm trying to be independent? Your negativity is the last thing I need."
He sighed deeply and left the conversation at that. We drove all the way to Pearl Heights. He pulled up at the curb and waited for me to get out.
"I'll go find parking." He said.
"I'll be on the seventh floor." I said, walking inside the apartment building.
Sitting down was the lady showing me around. She was a skinny blonde with the typical business women apparel. She wore a black blazer over a white blouse and black pencil skirt. She wore black pumps and left her hair out with a tablet, phone and pad with her.
"Welcome to Pearl Heights. Your Jayda Diamonde, right?"
"Yes, nice to meet you."
"Hello, I'm Laura. This is your boyfriend?" She looked over my shoulder. I turned around and saw Raymond coming towards us.
"No just a friend."
"Oh ok. Well come on, lets go see the apartment."
She led us upstairs by elevator. We waited about a minute for the elevator. When it came, we went up to the seventh floor. We walked down the hallway to the second-to-last door on the left side. She jingled her keys and opened the door, exposing this beautiful apartment, perfect for me.
The kitchen was to the right. It was a small modern style kitchen with a mini island starting from the wall. The lights hanging above were glass cylinder.
