Kit pulled out his phone from his hoodie pocket and pressed play on a random playlist. He was a collage drop out and a run away kid. His mom wanted him to stay in college, but he wanted to do something other than become an accountant like his mom.
Kit shook his head at the idea.
He moved from his hometown and was now in a city area that thrived with music. He liked music and wanted to pursue it, but his parents didn't think the same. They were accountants and they wanted him to be successful like them... you know the usual parent talk when you're in college. Kit didn't want to be stuck at a desk doing something he didn't love, so he dropped out first chance he got. First, he just didn't show up to classes, then when one of his teachers caught him trying to sneak away he asked what he planned on doing with his life. All Kit responded with was, "Anything but this. I don't want to be miserable being stuck behind a desk for the rest of my life. I don't want this life. I want music." The professor nodded in understanding and allowed him to leave. He was one of the few teachers he actually didn't mind.
But now, back in the present, he was now looking for a job somewhere that would let him listen to his music while he worked. Every place he looked didn't want him too.
The last place he could think of was this small cafe called the "Beat Box cafe"... it was his best shot. Sounded like it liked music
He walked through an alleyway as a shortcut to get to where he needed to be. His mom had always told him not to do it because alleys where sketchy or something like that, but he'd been doing it for years and nothing bad happened. He would meet the occasional homeless person and they would ask for money, but he would always say that he didn't have any money on him. He knew that much. His mom was always so overprotective... he was glad one was.
He also passed by a huge mansion in the middle of the city. It looked to be made completely of marble... but he was to far to be the judge of that. He simply thought about how amazing it would be to live in mansion, and have all that space. He grew up in a hard home and had a pretty good future ahead of him... but he didn't want it and threw it to the side.
He would never understand...
Kit finally arrived and placed his headphones around his neck. This was the place. Kit let out a sigh... he didn't want to get a job but he had to get money until he had enough to become a singer/songwriter. And maybe enough so if he found him he could leave first chance he got.
Kit walked in and the air smelled of coffee and caramel. He liked it. Kit slowly made his way up to the cash register and waited for someone to arrive. "Be with you in a minute!" A girl's voice called out.
Soon, a pretty girl with red hair wearing a red dress and an apron with the logo on it. Her name tag was on one of the straps and read 'Cherry' on it. "Hi, my name is Cherry! Welcome to the Beat Box cafe! What would you like to order?"
"Uh, I'm Kit and I would like to apply for a job here." Kit said semi-nervously.
She lit up and skipped past him "I'll be right back!"
Kit blinked in confusion. Where was she going? Wasn't she the one who owned the place? Well he guessed those answers would be answered in a moment...
Suddenly, he felt a light tap on his shoulder and turned to see Cherry standing next to and intimidatingly tall man. "Hello young man."
Kit was relatively short for his age so when he saw this man towering over him it would be kinda scary. He gulped. "H-hello sir."
"You're here for the job, yes?" He asked his voice deep and slightly dangerous.
