Mary Anne's
"Mannie! Are you excited for tomorrow?" Kendra squealed besides me.
Tomorrow is the day for the charity campaign.
My school celebrates it annually, kids do stupid shit for the up coming events and extracurricular activities. I only join the cinematography club, and I don't even know what the hell I am doing there.
"Hey, what will you participate for tomorrow?" I asked Kendra and Elliot in lunch. And surprisingly Lexi, she decided to eat lunch with us today. Cool.
"Bitch, I'm just going to spend all my shit in the kissing booth, this lips is hella starving." Elliot says applying lip gloss on. Uh, who would want to kiss a stranger? Oh right, Elliot.
"Who's in the kissing booth anyway?" I ask with my face scrunched up.
"I heard there will be hunka Julian in there." Elliot whispered.
Not again. Why do we always have to talk about him, just why?
"Can we like... stop right here?" I hold up my hands.
"Hm, okay. It's just because I love you and I know how much you hate Julian."
"Thanks, babe."
Madison is nowhere in sight, probably hooking up.
Lexi's sitting in front of me picking on her food.
"Lexi, are you going for the kissing booth?" Elliot asked.
I look at my surroundings, just looking...
Ha. There's Alan.
And no, I was not searching for him, I was just looking.
Though looking at him made me wonder. He's always with Jet, I figure that they're in a relationship. I see from this distance that Alan is holding an X-men comic book. It's 2018. He has a comic book in his hand.
He's really odd. Good odd, I think I like his oddness.
Right now, he's talking very enthusiastically to Jet, to which Jet only responds with a quiet nod.
Then Jet looked at his surroundings and looked at me, just as I was about to smile at him he turned back to Alan and said something to him.
Alan puts down his comic and suddenly acts cool, not that describing X-men comics to his best friend's not cool.
I'm still looking at them, and see how differently they dressed.
Alan seems like the guy who would throw anything that he has on his wardrobe by the look of his style, for example a maroon shirt and grey sweatpants, which he's wearing right now, which... kind of look appealing on him. Huh. Though, just a heads up, i'm not interested in him in "that" way.
Jet seems like the guy who has a funeral everyday, he always wears black, I think I've never seen him wear anything other than black.
They are unique people I must say.
Alan is looking at me now, I gave a simple wave, and he smiles back.
Huh, his smile is becoming familiar to me now, and I'm okay with that.
"Ooh, Marry Anne, you and Asian boy?" Elliot smirked.
"I think it's not necessary to say his race." I faced Elliot.
"Do you know that he's Chinese AND Korean?" Elliot said it like it's the most popular gossip in school.
"No I don't, how'd you know?" I narrow my eyes at him.
"Oh, and he's American too! Duh, I talk about boys more than you do, Mary."
"Oh, so he's half's?" My curiosity gave it away.
"I thought it was not necessary to talk about his race." Kendra joins in.
"He started it, I'm just trying to be nice by letting him on." I shrugged, eating my food.
"You're just curious about Asian boy." He winked, that open - mouth wink that's so familiar in this little group I'm in.
"Alan, his name's freaking Alan, Elliot!"
"Alan's looking at you now." Lexi finally got into the picture.
Is it because I said his name out loud? Ugh, I'm embarrassed.
I looked at Alan, and he's looking in my direction, but I'm not quite sure if he's really looking at me or not, it could be Elliot he's looking at, what do I know?
"No, he's not."
"Ooh, I'm so in for Blasian babies. They're gon' be hella cute!" Elliot cheered.
"Elliot, can you shut that dirty mouth of yours!"
"Yes, if you give me some balls!" He can turn every conversation into something dirty I swear.
"You're sick. I'm going to Art." I stand up, picking up my tray.
"Baby, you love me!" Elliot hollered from my back, how much I hate that little dog, though I still love him too.
I'm drawing a dress in art class when Alan came up besides me.
I immediately tensed up because of the conversation with my friends before. Does he know we were talking about him? No, he couldn't have known. He was sitting ten feet away from us.
"Cool moons." He asked, sitting down.
"Is it?" I smile to myself admiring my design with little moons in the bottom of the dress.
"Yeah, so, penny for your story?"
"Penny for your story?" I asked in confusion.
"I figure you always have a cool story to tell, so... penny for your story?" He looks at my drawing intently.
"The moons... are circling the dress because I personally think that a moon is this big satellite that reflects everybody," I point to the moons with my finger. Alan's looking at me now, not at the drawing. "And do you see how the moons are quite different than the other moons?"
"Yeah, I see that." He touched my drawing.
"It's because I think everyone is their own moon. It's like... how the moon looks so small from our perspectives, but really is this big magnificent creation."
"So, people are just like the moon?"
"Moons. People are special in their own way, Alan." Then, I saw his eyes, it held this strong emotion that I can't quite make out.
Tingles are surging through my body by the way he looks at me.

Marry Anne, how every word of your story confuses and admires me.
Moons. I mean, there's no such thing.
But what the hell, guess I'm a little shit of romantic now am I.
Though in that moment I realize, this girl before me is too kind, too kind for her own good.
