The day was nearing its end, and the sun slowly was setting, covering the world in an orange hue. Kagome, Inuyasha and their friends were passing through some woods on the search for a place to stay for the night. A gente breeze ghosted along the path and brought a familiar scent. Inuyasha stopped and sniffed "I smell Sesshomaru". Instinctively he placed his hand on the hilt of his sword. "Just because he's around doesn't mean that he wants us any harm" Miroku threw in and the women nodded in agreement. Anyway, they remained alerted as well. At times it still wasn't clear if the demon was friend or foe. The tense silence was broken by rustling and the sound of quick steps. Inuyasha quickly pushed Kagome behind him and pulled Tessaiga a few inches from its hilt. They all gripped their weapons tighter until, a small figure broke through the bushes.
"Kagome!" it pushed past everyone until it could sling the small arms around the woman's waist. It was Rin and tears were shimmering in her eyes. "What is it?". It was rare to see the always so cheery child in a state like this, so something must have happened. Maybe Sesshomaru was injured. What would explain why she was running around all by herself. "You need to come!", the girl took her hand and pulled her along.
Rin led the group to a small lake in the middle of the woods. A fire was burning and Jaken was running around it while jabbering incoherent things. When Rin already seemed uneasy, he was in full panic mode. Another person was sitting beside the fire, back leaned against the two headed dragon Ah-Uhn. The Yokai's head, who had been curled around the figure shot up when they arrived. The person yet was not as expected the dog demon. It was a woman in a blood red Kimono, her legs covered by a thin blanket.

"Yuri" Rin darted forward and kneeled down beside her "I brought help" "Thank you, sweet one" she replied a little breathless and placed her hand and the child's cheek, then looked up at the people that still were lingering at the edge of clearing. She was a beauty, no arguing with that. Her gaze lingered on Inuyasha and she was about to say something when a wave of pain, caused her to wince. Kagome instantly wanted to step closer, but Inuyasha held her back by her wrist. She might not appear like it, but his senses clearly were telling him that she was a demon. "Are you injured?", he couldn't smell any blood, just a sweet scent that he wasn't able to place right. Maybe some kind of sickness or poison. The pretty face of this woman was tense, still she was smiling weakly "No. We're just a little early". She pushed down the blanket to reveal her swollen abdomen "You're pregnant!", heavily pregnant to be exact and what it looks like she actually already was in labor. Kagome pulled herself from the half demon's hold. This was no trap. When she stepped beside Yuri, Sango instantly doing the same, Rin looked at them with big pleading eyes "You need to help her. Lord Sesshomaru has left to get something to eat, and I don't know what to do". "We will" Sango smiled reassuringly at the child, then at Yuri and explained that in her old village she had assisted a few births.
Inuyasha in the meantime just was staring at this unknown female that obviously was traveling with his brother. The only reason to him for this, especially since she was carrying a child was- "Why are pestering my mate?". Sesshomaru was standing on the clearing, his hand wrapped around a dead rabbit but his expression as unmoving as ever. Yuri perked up, more than happy to see him and reached out her hand "My love! I think our child wants to meet us sooner than expected". His eyes widened the slightest and dropping his bait, he rushed to his woman's side. The group stared at him. Though they all by now had been guessing it, to actually hear that this truly was his mate and that they were expecting a child together was hard to take in. Still, now that he was kneeling down beside her right and Yuki trustfully was placing her head against his chest, while he wrapped his mokomoko around her to make it more comfortable. They had been on their way to his castle, so she could bear their child in a safe place and with the assistance of experienced midwife. Destiny seemed to have changed their plans and he had to admit to himself that he was unsure about what to do.
