3) just for a little while

AN so im sorry i havent been updating in ages but things have been pretty hectic, hopefully i'll find a house soon and i'll start updating my stories more regularly, i actually finished this chapter ages ago but haden't had time to post in so I'm sorry DX that is all lol enjoy

Kitty's POV

After watching the others perform manual labor for hours on end the day had finally reached its end. The sun was now low in the sky turning the blue to shades of oranges and pinks. I walked with the three tired and hungry Genin as they made their way back into the village.

"Do you want to get some ramen with me Sakura?" Naruto looked at the pinket hopefully.

"Only if Sasuke comes" she replied sending Naruto went into a depressed state as Sakura now looked to Sasuke gleaming with hope.

"I have better things to do" He spoke emotionlessly hands in pockets not even giving them a glance and Sakura joined Naruto in his depressed state.

They walked in silence for awhile before Sakura once again notice me.

"Hey Sasuke" She spoke not taking her eyes of me.

"hn?" he replied in what I assumed was a gesture for her to continue.

"Have you thought of a name yet?" she asked looking towards him.

"A name?" He looked over his shoulder at her a hint of confusion on his face.

"Yer for the cat" she smiled seeming happy he was paying attention to her. At this he stopped walking and looked down at me considering her words for a moment, Sakura and Naruto stopped as well to look at me and I was rather enjoying my moment of being the center of attention.

"It's not mine so I have no reason to name it" his face showed nothing when he said it ouch I inwardly thought, that comment had hurt "I'm going home now" he turned his back to everyone and continued walking.

"o-ohk" Sakura frowned "bye Sasuke" she looked after him wistfully as he walked away.

Naruto who had been strangely quiet now squatted beside me his eyes squinted a bit as he looked at me and his hands resting behind his head, it would appear if his brain was trying to think, something that seemed to be dangerous for him.

"Hmm... ah huh!" he spoke suddenly gaining the pink haired girls attention. I watched the boy curiously as his thinking had appeared to pay off, I waited curiously wondering if he would say something smart "what about Blacky" he beamed, I sweat dropped, that was short lived. Had he been trying to think of a name? And that was the best he could come up with, really Blacky? He had to be kidding... and he looked like he'd been trying really hard to and he chose the most obviously unoriginal name.

Still, I looked to where Sasuke was walking further away... at least he tried to come up with a name.

"No way" Sakura said hitting Naruto over the head "that's the best you could think of?" saying what I had thought, she let out a sigh "come on lets go get something to eat" Naruto jumped up cheering I left the two there and began running after Sasuke.

Once I caught up with him he looked down at me "nyu" I meowed happily to him and he let out a sigh before looking forwards again, I couldn't help but notice the small smile that tugged at the corner of his lips. I smirked to myself I knew he secretly liked me.

We arrived at the house and following the same routine as yesterday Sasuke shut the door in my face. Do we really have to go through this again? I thought he would of figure out by now that he wasn't going to get rid of me. I glared at him through the door before swishing my tail and heading towards the window, once I was perched comfortably on the windowsill I looked into the house.

Sasuke took of his weapons pouch and cleaned up a stack of papers from the kitchen bench before looking up to where I sat. We stayed like that for a moment before I decided that I was going to have to pull my most irresistible face, resalting to dog style puppy dog eyes.

I hated resulting to dog tactics but it was guaranteed to gain me access into the house.

I lowered my ears slightly, tilted my head down and to the side before making my blue eyes as large as they could possibly go as they looked up towards the black haired boy.

His eyes widened for a fraction of a second before glaring at me "nyu" I meowed from the other side of the glass and the boy let out a defeated sigh before making his way over and opening the window "fine but only one more night" he said as if trying to convince himself. I happily jumped through the window, no one can resist my charm the only thing dogs where ever useful for was inventing that face.

After I was in the house I watched as Sasuke perform his mundane tasks for a few minutes and then decided I should find a spot to curl up. Taking a brief look around at my options I decided to jump up onto the bench and then on top of the fridge seeing it was the tallest thing I could find and I enjoyed being up high.

Sasuke frowned as he watched me as I jumped up atop the fridge but said nothing about my actions, and I took that as a sign that this spot was an ok place for me to be sitting. With that in mind I curled up into a tight ball and watched as he began to prepare some food.

Sasuke's POV

I watched the cat as it made itself comfortable on top of my fridge it watched me with large blue eyes, eyes that where so calculating it was as if she was constantly paying attention to her surrounding and understood everything that was happening. Even when I spoke she listened to me as if understanding everything I had said.

I turned back to the rest of the kitchen and began preparing dinner. My thoughts drifted off to what Sakura had said "have you thought of a name yet?" ... A name huh? I smirked to myself at the thought. I looked back up to the cat she still watched me with keen interest. I frowned shaking my head as I went back to cooking. What was I thinking I couldn't keep her? I didn't need anyone. Having her around is just another useless bond one that I didn't need.

Then again she does seem to be reluctant to leave, and it's not like I don't have room in the house. I'm pretty sure she is a stray if not then why would she still be here.

Kitty's POV

As Sasuke cooked he's brows furrowed and he glared at the food pursing his lips together as if he was debating over something, on the other hand he could just be trying to scare the food into preparing itself. Deciding I should probably snap himself out of his internal debate (before the food decides to run away) I propped myself up stretching my limbs before jumping to the floor in an effortless and almost silent movement.

I made my way over to Sasuke and rubbed up against his leg letting out a 'meow'. He looked down at me and the features of his face smoothed out and a small smile touched his lip it was a strange to see him smile like that he wasn't smirking like usual but it was a general smile, it sat on his face a bit awkwardly as if not used to the movement.

It was hard not to notice how good looking he was, I could definitely understand why Sakura was constantly fawning all over him. I was suddenly curious as to what he was thinking, but I would have to be in human form in order to ask and despite the temptation I knew it wasn't a wise decision.

Besides who knows how he would react, he might kick me out for the night or worse not feed me. That and I would be breaking my cover and that might not put just me in danger but him as well.

A large hand was placed on my head bringing me out of my thoughts and I looked up past a large hand into Sasuke's charcoal eyes. His eyelids dropped down a bit as if he was tired but then it was gone and he looked at me again before reaching up and grabbing some of the meat he was cooking before giving it to me, I happily ate it meowing at him happily he smiled once again before putting back on that emotionless mask of his, standing up and continuing cooking.

"I guess it's ok if you stay here for a few more days, just until I find you a home"

I smirked a little on the inside, I knew he liked me even if he can't admit it, he may have this whole I'm a lone wolf that doesn't care about or need anyone but I can tell he as a soft spot.
