Chapter Twenty

I literally feel my heart brake when Val told me she was spending her last day with Matthew. The prick. My pencil snaps at the thought of him. My knuckles are white, my breathing ragged and I can pretty much feel the hatred course through my bloodless veins.

I get up from my desk and go to my books. The Prince, Italy, Spain, France, all different books. I pull out Green Garden. I heard it was Val's favorite, but I've never read it.

"I've never read a more boring book." I mutter when I've finished it. Ninety-three pages of a boy who hates a girl, but the girl loves him. And the only time they can be together is when they're in her mothers garden.

Setting it back on the book shelf, I set out to find Val.

Passing through hallway after hallway, I find Violett. "Violett!"

She stops and looks at me with mischievous eyes, "Yes, Dominic."

"Do you know where Val is?" I fiddle with my shirt and look at my shoes.

"Ask Sofia." she runs away. That was weird. Oh well. I walk quickly to Sofia's room. She not there. But I do find Nella.

"Nella!"

She turns to me and smiles, "Yes, darling?"

"Do you know where Sofia is?"

Her face darkens to a weird look, "Ask Luca."

I sigh and turn to Lucas room. When I'm just about there, I hear his voice inside. "Adele, remind me to tell Sofia to go get some milk from the farmer."

"Yes sir." I see the young servant girl walk out of the room. She shivers and hurrys away.

i make my way to the door, nervouse of why everyone is sending me this way and that. Did somthing happen to Sofia, or worse, Val?! "Luca?" I open the door slwoly.

hes itting on his bed reading the local newspaper, "Hello, son. What brings you here"

i fidget nervously on my feet, "Do you know where Sofia is?"

He bites his lower lip and gets up, "No, but Adele, the servant girl, does. so go ask her?"

i nod and run down the hall. Sofia is the only one who would know where Val is, i need to find her! Up a head i see Adele dusting a vase. She looks up to se me and gets all fidigty. I do have that afect on woman, i think smugley.

"Adele, do you know where Sofia is? I cant find her any where!" i lean aginst the wall and give her a charmingg smile. she instatly blushes and pushes piece fo hair behind her ear.

"No, but Anne does. Shes in the great room."

I nod and run in that direction. This is just plain old rediculouse! When i open th door i see Anne fluffing some pillows. She ignores me as i walk to her. "Anne, Have you seen Sofia?"

i start to feel helpless as she opens her mouth. "I did, but my old memory is failing, sir. But i do remember telling Angelo where she was. So maybe ask him, hes in the servents hall." I can tell shes not telling me everything, but leave it.

"Thanks." i spritn to the servants hall as fast as i can go. "ANGELO!" i knock on the door.

he opens it and i imeditaly feel the erge to kill someone. Hes the one Val said she loved, hes the one she talked to at the ball, and hes the one she hangs out with alot! "Tell me right now where Sofia is."

He gulps and nods, "In the graveyard."

i sigh and run outside. What if something happened to Val? What if shes hurt? Maybe she died and they just dont want to tell me. Or maybe she just doesnt want to see me because she thinks im involved with Courtney. I dont know why i said those things last night. I wish i hadnt. But its to ate now!

i stop at the first stone and look for my siter. shes putting fresh flowers on the stone like she does every other day. "Sofia." i run up to her and poke her shoulder.

"Yes?" she gets up and dusts her pants, :Im sure your wondering where Val is right?"

I nod.

"Weeeeeell, first we have to talk about some important stuff."

"Ok. But i need to tell you something first. I just want you to know that i love Val. Like, I love her so much it hurts me knowing shes human and even if we were together, we couldnt be together forever. and it pains me knowing she doesnt return these feelings. And now i feel so hoplessly Stupid for ever trying to make her love me when she never even gave me a second thought!" I slump aginst a rock and blink away tears.

"I get that you Love her,Dominc. I really do. But, its just,huuu." She bites her lip and taps her foot. "She likes someone else."

I nod. Matthew. The name makes me want to tkill someome, perticularly Angelo. "I can still win her back, right?"

"Im sorry. Shes gone. He just brought her to the docks now, and well, for petes sack he made her a boat! And shes leaving, for like, a while."

The tears finally spill and i cant help but sob. Sofia ugs me and comforts me. Snap out of it, i think, Go to the docks and get her before she leaves.

"Im not giving up. Ill talk to you later, Soph." I push her away and run to the docks. Its not that far. Ill get her.

We're soul mates, it just has to work out.
