It was close to midnight, and Zachary had left his apartment in search of the two demons whom he was looking after. He wouldn't forgive himself if anything had happened to them, and he knew all too well that the public surely wouldn't shut up about it, nor leave him alone if they found out that he was hiding two creatures from another planet in his living space.
"Come on you two, where could you possibly be...?!" Zach thought to himself, pacing through the empty streets whilst passing some Condos.
Zach looked around at the orange-yellow glow emitting from the lampposts that illuminated the streets around him, it made him feel slightly at ease, and oddly nostalgic for some reason. Up ahead, he could see a T-intersection, and a crosswalk connecting the sidewalks, which led to a stone wall about ribcage-high to an average person lining the left of the sidewalk along that road.
When he looked closer, he could see that he was near a beach that neighbored a local park. The way that the bright, full moon reflected off the body of water, along with the skyline of the city across it made the sight all the more breathtaking.
"T-This is alright...." Zach thought, taking a small breath as he did so.
However, in the midst of his thinking, he heard two voices chatting and laughing a bit.
"Wait, could that be-" Zach wondered, as he looked around the corner of a Condo at the end of the street he was on, and towards the park.
And sure enough, he saw Red and Solomon, both of them sitting on a small hill, looking up at the night sky.
"There you two are! You had me worried sick!", Zach ushered to the two demons as he approached them.
"Oh, man." Solomon muttered audibly, facepalming gently while he did, "Sorry Zach, we just wanted to get outside for a little bit, since Red and I were tired of being cooped up in your abode for a few days."
"Yeah, in all honesty, that was cabin-fever inducing, being the sizes we are." Red added, in order to back Solomon up on his claim.
Zach sat down next to them, sighing. "Well let's just pray to God that nobody saw you two."
The three of them then looked back up at the night sky, the stars amongst the moon twinkling proudly.
"You know, Red, we haven't seen stars like this since Zenith was destroyed.", Solomon spoke, smiling a bit.
"Boy, you said it." Red replied to his friend, smiling with glee.
"What do you think of this, Zach?" Solomon asked, turning to him.
Zach was just looking up at the moon, seeming anxious for some odd reason.
"Uh, Zach...? Are you alright?", Red asked, genuinely concerned.
Zach then looked at the road in front of them, as he remembered the night where the tires of an oncoming Truck rolled over Melissa's neck, and the last thing she saw was the horrified look on his face.
"NOO-!!" Zach shouted in a panic attack as he snapped back into reality, which made Red and Solomon jump.
"H-Hey, are you okay?!" Solomon exclaimed, scooting over to where Zach was sitting.
"No....seeing all this made me remember that night....that night where Melissa died...", Zach spoke, tearing up slightly.
But then, Zach felt two pairs of arms hug him. He looked down, to see the two demons were the ones who were hugging him.
"It's okay, bud, we're right here, and we're here for you. Just like you're here for us.", Red spoke, giving a warm smile to Zach.
Zach thought that they'd need him the most if they wanted to get back to their homeworld, but it turns out that he needed them just as much.
