CARINA BLACK'S HEAD throbbed with the irreplaceable loss of Marlene Mckinnon as she felt visions of her lifeless eyes flash upon her mind like old films. Marlene's body was missing the soul spark it once contained, lying on the marble floor, crimson dripping from her open scars like a monotonous faucet. Gnawing at the desk in annoyance and pure, blind rage, Carina felt blood trickle down her knuckles.
She smiled.
Tears threatened to pour out from the edges of her sunken yet piteous eyes, her vision growing hazy as every agonising second passed.
The woman took out a piece of crumpled parchment and a pert, upstanding quill, and began writing in shaky handwriting, stringing her deepest thoughts into poetry.
