Ever Given was making her way along her delivery route. It was the first time she was taking this trip, and she was both excited and nervous. Ever Given, who went by Eve for short, knew that she was carrying a lot of important packages and goods on her, and was treating this route like it was the most important thing she would ever do.
Eve was traveling through the Suez Canal, one of the most important trading passages in the world. Without it, a lot of cargo ships would have to go around the tip of Africa and waste their fuel trying to go farther. The thought of having to go around a continent made her shudder. Eve was a very large boat, and although she was young still, and had a lot of energy, she could not have gone that far, it was just too much. The general build of Eve and her sisters was not what you would call slender. They were quite broad, and the sisters were all long boats. Ever Goods, Ever Genius, Ever Gaining, Ever Giant, Ever Gentle, Ever Golden, Ever Grade, and Ever Gifted were only some of the names in Eve's large family. While "Ever" was technically their last name, Eve just wanted to go by a shortened version of that. She thought that "Given" was a terrible name, and that at least she could make her family name into something nice. Her sisters Gaining, Giant, and Grade all were a little bit put off when Given decided to go by Eve as their names were on the same level of strange, and they didn't know whether Eve thought that their names were bad.
Leaving her sisters and becoming part of world trading was something that Eve had dreamed of when she was younger. She was still young for her species, being 3 years old, but since Eve is a boat, she is built from the bones and walls of previous ships made anew, and because cargo ships like her mature quick enough to launch after they are made almost immediately, she was considered an adult boat.
Just for reference, Eve would be around 9 years old in human years. However, boats are fundamentally different than humans, and are adults from the age of 2 to 30. The life cycle of cargo ships such as Eve go like this: 0 to 1 they are babies to teens, ages 2 to 6 is when they are considered young adults, 6 to 11 is still a young adult, but not in the same sense as when they are 2 to 6. Cargo ships are middle aged from 12 to 15, and older adults from 15 to 21. They are senior citizens at 22+.
Moving on, this was the biggest thing that Eve had done out of all of her deliveries. There were over 18,000 containers aboard her, and she wasn't sure she could carry the extra weight well. It seemed like a lot at first, but then Eve realized that it was just nerves and that she was ready for the journey. With one last encouraging shout from Golden, Eve was off and starting her trip.
