this chapter is set around the time of 4x10, theres some bad words but not a lot. I hope you guys enjoy!

Robert and Andy got home after what felt like a year long shift of just giving people covid tests, besides the one call that was saving a married couple from a car that was trapped inside a truck. they also got into a little disagreement, Robert had totally gotten over the fight they had in the turnout room and he thought Andy had to, but Andy definitely still had it on her mind.

Robert walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge. "ugh I forgot to go grocery shopping this week." he closed the fridge and turned around to see Andy staring at the tv that wasn't even on yet. "im going to order takeout, what do you feel like eating tonight." he asked but still not getting a response. "Andy can you hear me." he said a little loud but not loud enough. "ANDY!" he loudly yelled. Andy looked over when she heard Robert yell. "wh- what, sorry, im ok with anything." she said still a little lost. "ok Chinese food it is." she just nodded her head in response not really hearing what he said. he picked up the phone and ordered there dinner.

as soon as he was done ordering the food, he walked over in front of the tv hoping that Andy would look up. Andy still deep in her thoughts didn't even notice. he knew she wasn't going to look up so he walked over to the couch and sat next to her. "what has got you so distracted tonight." he said rubbing her back. Andy looked at him with a sad look in her eyes, but it wasn't just sadness he could see, it was also anger. "what are you thinking about." he asked in a soft voice, trying not to push. she scooted away from him just enough that his hand fell of her back. and as soon as his hand dropped to the couch he got a confused look on his face. she takes a deep breath and starts talking "I can't stop thinking about the fight we had in the turnout room." Andy says. Robert rubs his hands over his head a little frustrated. "you arn't seriously still mad about that." Andy lets out a light chuckle, but it most definitely wasn't a happy one. "of course Im still mad, it just wasn't the time or place to continue to argue with you." Andy says while standing up. its easier for her to have difficult conversations when she can pace back and forth. "this is about the Lieutenants application and dean stuff isn't it." he says while also standing up and walking to the other side of the living room across from Andy. "well it wasn't about that but now that you bring it up, Im also angry about that." Robert lets out a scoff. "then what are you mad about, because other then the Lieutenant stuff theres nothing to be mad about." Andy now is starting to get angry "you seriously have no idea of what could be bothering me." Robert shakes his head signaling no. "ever since you got demoted you have been acting as if I am ashamed of you and your title." Andy says in a angry tone, but not quite yelling yet. "because you are." Robert blurts out. "you make it seem like the only reason I married you was because of your title, and do you know how hurtful that could be for someone to hear. even after everything we have been through, all the heartbreak and traumas. you believe I married you because of some fucking title." she is now yelling. "then how come you didn't tell your family about me being demoted." he says trying to push the blame back on her. "I haven't seen my family since I was nine, they missed almost my whole life, I am trying as much as I can to fill them in on the years they missed, in the very little free time I have to see them. And you expect me to take that time to explain to my already very old fashion family that my husband is a drug addict, who overdosed on fentanyl, while on the job, and then got demoted." he is starting to understand where she's coming from. "if you simply just asked me why I didn't, before getting angry then you would know the reason I didn't say anything to them, was because I wanted them to give you a chance first, and have them meet the person I fell in love with, and not have them judge you right away for your mistakes in the past."

robert now is starting to see where he went wrong in the situation. "I am so sorry for the things I have said to you these past couple of weeks." he says while walking over to Andy. as soon as he gets close enough to kiss her, she puts her hand on his chest pushing him back. "you don't get to keep doing that!" she yells, "you don't get to keep pushing all of our problems under the rug like its nothing." he Is yet again confused where all this is coming from. "every time we get into an argument you always push it away. for example after the aid car when you didn't follow my orders you came into the locker room trying to apologize, and I was saying we need to fix the problem of you not following my directions when Im in charge, but you said we didn't need to and I agreed, and I regret saying I agree because when the time comes and I am your boss that problem is going to come back up and its going to be one more thing we have to work on down the road. and fyi you need to stop thinking that kissing me and acting all charming is going to make me not mad anymore. because it worked the first couple of fights, but not anymore. I am no longer going to let you charm your way back to me every time you mess up, you have to own up to it." Robert is shocked by the things Andy just said, and he is starting to get irritated. "not everything is my fault, you have a part in this to." Andy can't believe thats the only thing he came up with after what she said. "exactly. my part in this is that I let you charm your way out of arguments and i let you repetitively talk over me and disrespect me as If I was nothing. and I regret that." Robert is at disbelief of what his wife just said. "I didn't charm my way out of anything. if anything in the turnout room you kissed me first." she can admit, she did kiss him first. "I did kiss you first, because you were being charming when I am supposed to be mad at you, its really hard to be mad at someone when they express there love for you." Andy knows that kissing him was probably not the best way to go. "And the insubordination at work is not ok, just because we are married doesn't mean I have to make you feel more special or more important then the other crew members, at work you are a probie and Im your lieutenant thats it.

"well at least soon enough I will be lieutenant and then we won't have these problems anymore." those words pissed Andy off. "do you not understand that I am your wife, we make these types of decisions together. And I am not going to allow you to back stab my friends-" she corrects herself "-my family because of some title." Robert laughs. "your choosing to back up the team and not your own husband." he's hurt and she can tell, but she doesn't care. not when it comes down to the team. "they arn't just the team to me, they are my siblings, they are my family. I have known them longer then I have known you. and I know your my husband and I should be backing you up, but in this situation I can't." he's shocked by her answer, he expected her to back him up. "and its not just dean your hurting when you do this, your hurting yourself. you may not remember but they also pointed guns at you." "I REMEMBER!" he yelled cutting her off "you don't need to bring it up." he lowered his voice. "I do need to bring it up because you are about to side with those same exact people." Robert is not only angry but he's hurt now, but hearing those words didn't change his mind. "I need a wife who will support my decisions no matter what, and if your not going to then you should leave." she was taken back by the words that just came out of his mouth, did he really just say that to her. "your kicking me out of my own house because Im not siding with you in a stupid decision." a single tear drops down her face, but she's not sad, she's livid. "we need space, we have a lot of stuff to work out, and I really need someone to have my back all the time. but you arn't going to." now she's sad, she wipes the few single tears that have fallen down her cheek, trying not to make it to obvious that she's crying. "you want to take a break." he nods his head because he knows that if he says yes then he's going to cry, but this is his choice so he can't cry, at least not right now. "for how long." she says trying really hard to hold back the flood of tears trying to escape her eyes. he swallows the lump in his throat before answering. "as long as we need, and until then our marriage is on a pause."

those single tears down her face turned into more tears as she ran up stairs to go pack her stuff, she didn't have a lot of stuff there because she wasn't fully moved in yet, so she grabbed all of it and shoved it into her bag. as she was clearing out her dresser drawer she came across a photo from one of there date nights. she didn't show any emotion as she ripped It in half and placed it in the middle of the dresser. a part of her hoped that he would find the photo and feel as much pain as she was feeling now. she was done packing so she zipped up her bag and made her way out of the room and closing the door. when she got to the top of the stairs she wiped the tears off her eyes. she walked down and saw him standing by the door, she noticed him quickly wipe the tears of his eyes to. "where are you going to stay." he asked concerned. "why would you care." she scoffed and opened the door. he knew exactly where she was going to go and that was the last place he wanted her to go. she walked out of the door, a small part of her was hoping he would pull her back in and kiss her goodbye, but she knows that won't happen. he watched as she got into her car and drove off. he doesn't know if he regrets his decision but he knows its for the best if he wants to save there marriage and go back to how it was before covid.

~later that night~

Robert was sitting on the couch watching his favorite tv show trying to distract himself from grabbing his phone and texting Andy. when a bright light shines through his window. and he heard what sounded like a car pull into the driveway. he quickly looked over through the window hoping it was Andys car. but really it was there food. he heard the door bell ring and he went and grabbed it. he wasn't hungry anymore so he put it into the fridge and went back to the couch to watch tv.

Andy has been driving around town crying trying to figure out where she should go and only one place stood out in her mind. she finally makes the decision to go there. it might not be the best but its all she's got. she makes it to a house, she grabs her bag and slams her car door shut. she walks to the house and knocks on the door. someone answers, "thank you for letting me stay for awhile." "no problem." the person invites Andy in and the door shuts behind them...

thank you for reading! who answered the door... I guess we won't know till next chapter.
