chapter four

My eyes slowly open as I hear the sound of heavy rain drops pouring down from above. When my eyes adjust and I rub them awake I check the clock on the cars dash. It reads 7:14. My head has a splitting headache right in the middle of my forehead. I turn in my seat and look in the back for any pain killers I don't find any, so I decide to check the arm rest. There weren't any pain killers but there was something else. The picture. I shut the arm rest. My eyes dart back to the sky in front of me. I rest my arms on the steering wheel and take in small breaths. The sky was a smokey navy. I sit there for a while just watching the sky. I always loved thunderstorms. I'm that one weird kid that isn't scared of lightning and thunder. When I hear the sound of thunder it makes me feel safe. Don't ask me why because I have no explanation. After a while I notice I've been sitting there for twenty minutes just watching the rain pour down on the parking lot. I took a deep breath and started the ignition. I pulled out of the parking lot and headed back to the apartment.

I walked quietly into the apartment and slowly shut the door behind me. I doubt anyone would be up at this time in the morning. They sleep to like eleven or something. I walk upstairs to my room. When I step into the room I found sky sound asleep in our bed. Her pink lips were parted slightly and her breathing was faint. I focus on her for a few seconds before snapping out of my trance. I lay my jacket on the floor near the door and put my keys in my wallet. Before I turn to walk out I step over beside sky and bend my knees to the floor. I brush the hair out of her face and I kiss her cheek. I didn't want to wake her up this early so I made it brief. I stood back up and made my way downstairs. I jumped when I saw someone sitting on the couch. It was dark and I couldn't tell who it was. "relax it's just me." He says, noticing my reaction. My heart race slowed down a little when I knew who it was. I slowly walked to the other couch that faced him. "What are you doing back?" I asked liam. "I was done with work so I came back early " his voice is low. I just nod my head. I didn't really have anything to say because we don't normally talk. We just say hey and that's it but now since he's staying with us we have to talk more. "So what're doing up so early for?" His voice is coated with his british accent. I definitely wasn't telling him I was just out drinking and slept in my car. "Went to a friend's house." I stated and met his brown eyes with my blue ones. He nodded. It was getting awkward as we just sat in silence for a few minutes. But the silence was broken by a third voice "mannon! Where the hell were you? You scared us all to death!" Skylen scolded me with anger and worry. I look at Liam and back to Sky. "Hey I told you I had to run Aaron's." She knew that because I told her and Louis but I didn't tell her I wasn't coming back. "All night?" She raised her eyebrows in disbelief. I laughed slightly. "I stayed with a friend." I said and she seemed to soften. Then she came and sat beside me. "You know you could have called us and told us that? But it's fine as long as you're not dead." She stated with sarcasm. She laughed. My phone starts buzzing from my back pocket. I take it out and see the caller ID. Read. "I have to take this." I tell both liam and sky giving them both a glance. Once I'm out of their earshot I answer it.

Reed: "Boss wants to see you"
"What for?"
Reed: "Says it's important that's all he mentioned."
"I'll be right there."
Reed: "Yeah you should."
Don't be a smartass reed
Reed: "Sorry Kennen just hurry alright."
"Yeah"
