What are they?

A fever is when someone gets a higher body temperature than normal. It is usually considered to be 38⁰C (86⁰F) or above.

What are the causes?

There can be many causes for a Fever, the most common cause however is when you are infected/ill, the fever is just the body's natural way of helping to fight off unwanted bacteria. Other causes of fevers are: some medications that are taken, sunburn, heatstroke, dehydration, alcohol withdrawal.

Symptoms.

No one has every symptom but they usually have 3/4 of the symptoms listed below:

Shivering

Sweating

Dehydration

Lack of appetite

Lack of energy

Difficulty concentrating

More sensitive to injuries

More sensitive to light

Rapid changes of temperature - hot/cold feeling

How to treat them.

They are relatively simple to treat, you just need to make sure that they have food and water and they don't get dehydrated. That they rest and recover in bed. Take paracetamol or ibuprofen if they are uncomfy, however ibuprofen shouldn't be taken by children with Asthma (covered later in the topic about Asthma). Aspirin can also be taken however children under the age of 16 can not take it as there are links to it causing another medical issue which could also be fatal.
