Chapter One: The field trip

It was a bright and sunny day. Kuoh Academy's first, second, and third years were currently on a field trip to a new and upcoming zoo. Once the busses came to a stop in front of the zoo, all of the students got off, and waited for their teacher/supervisor to do the same.

Once their teacher left the bus, she approached the head of the group of students, and called for their attention.

Ms. Sureiyā: "Alright class, today we will be visiting the zoo. Don't antagonize the staff or the animals, and stay behind the fences. I also ask that you stay wary of your surroundings, and try not to enter any of the exhibits."

Ms. Sureiyā, already slightly agitated from the bus ride over, let the students roam free after giving her speech. The ORC (Occult Research Club) stuck together and started to explore the zoo, observing the many different species of animals, when their attention had been drawn to one of the workers. A young man, to be exact.

This was (Y/n), who sat with a baby rhinoceros, when suddenly the much bigger (and angrier looking) mother broke into a full on sprint towards the two, charging towards (Y/n).

Obviously, this worried the ORC, who all tried to warn (Y/n), when the mother rhinoceros came to a stop, and changed her course. She carefully strolled around both the baby and the one feeding it in a protective manner.

(Y/n): "There there little guy, eat up."

The young man spoke in a soft and undisturbed tone. In his hands were carrots, lettuce, and some parsnips. He hummed to himself while he fed the hungry baby Rhino, and the members of the ORC were both relieved and amazed.

Usually the mother would rip apart anyone that so much as looked at her child the wrong way. So to see someone personally feed her baby was a big deal.

Once the baby rhino had its share, (Y/n) stood up, dusted himself off, and left the pen. Of course, not before petting both the mother and her baby.

He then left towards the lion's cage, as it was nearly their turn to be fed and interacted with.

He noticed that the group had been watching him, so he gave a bright smile and a friendly wave.

The young man also gave a quick and subtle examination of their uniforms, and figured out that the group was from Kuoh Academy. He guessed that they were at the zoo for the sake of a field trip.

Once at the lion's pen, with a bucket of raw meat and a pair of gloves, he went in, where he was immediately approached by all of the lions.

(Y/n) started feeding the raw meat to the hungry lions, and as he took a seat, a small grin spread across his face. His dirty blonde hair moved ever so slightly in the wind as he watched the lions feast, when a small cub began to approach from behind.

The cub jumped onto his back, much to the worry of the ORC, when he let out a laugh, and grabbed onto the small cub. Setting it into his lap, he began to gently pet and play with it.

The other lions took notice, and quickly finished eating. Approaching the pair, they all plopped down near and around the young man, a few of the lions going so far as to rest their heads on his legs.

(Y/n): "Tuckered out? It must have been a long day of laying around, huh?"

As if on cue, one of them gave out a roar, to which the male chuckled to himself, still smiling, he began to pet each and every one.

Once again, a feeling of relief washed over the ORC. But that relief was short lived, as a cry for help could be heard in the distance. Moving quickly, (Y/n) jumped to his feet, made his way through the lions, and ran towards the source of the yell.
