She followed the head-maid out of room.

She only knew about this mansion through just a few illustrations, so she carefully look around the places.

The mansion was gigantic in size just like some buildings you can see in a movie that showed a European castle.

Georgia who was leading the way, got down to the first floor and soon arrived at the well-decorated door.

It seemed to be the duchess' office.

Knock knock knock.

"Your grace. I escorted the lady here."

"Come in."

Creak- The door opened with the maid opening the door.

I stepped in the room, feeling a bit nervous.

"Come, sit here child."

"Veronika greets Your Grace the Duchess of Eaton." She tried to greet her properly but it was so akward.

"How are you feeling, Veronica?" She asked in soft voice.

"I am fine now, Thank you."

"The doctor told me that your recovery seems to be on track. You'll be completely well, soon."

"..."

"So, it seems that it was one of the maids assigned to you. She escaped the same night. "

"Oh!"

'Yeah, yeah! It was all planed by my sweet sister, but I would use it to make a distance  between us.'

"What would you like to do?" Duchess asked after a while.

"I would like to move to west wing and dismiss all the maids assign to me."

All of the Duke's family is located in the east wing. There would be a scene of Veronica being accused of stealing formal Duchess' jewelry. Her and Angelica's rooms are in third floor of east wing while every one else's room is in second except Duke's and his elder son, who live in first floor.

Basically whole drama is orchestrated there. That where my room is, on the second floor along with Madeleine. It would be better to stay away from her.

"Yes, but are you sure you want to dismiss all of them."

'It looks like dismissing all ten of them will be to much. Okay then.'

"Just assign them to do something in the mansion."

"Okay, what about getting someone else as your maid."

"Violet."

Violet would be a year elder than her. She is bubbly and chirpy, works in kitchen, and dies in one of Madeleine's scheme when Angelica returns. She is portrayed loyal and trustworthy.  Madeleine can't get her as she didn't have anything to loose than her life.

In the novel she was described to be honest and optimistic even after she loose her parents in fire. She got a talent with numbers. She could have been a good supporting character if not her death, which made Angelica realize that someone is plotting against her.

"Only one."

"Yes!"

"Okay. And I would send few people. You can move to the west wing."

"Thank you. Then is there is nothing else, I would be leaving."

"Okay. If you need something else, come to me without hesitation."

―—―—―

"Eaton is located in north along with Alastair Grand-duchy. They have to fight with monsters of north to keep the empire safe. Totally unsafe zone.

The central region along with capital, full of political tussle and conspirancy. Red-flag, death.

Eastern region borders another empire. There was no war between them mentioned in novel. But there is Evangeline, the trouble-magnet.

South, the sea, regular pirate attack and that kingdom. Totally avoidable.

Western area is were sea-creature cause trouble when in mood, so no, not there."

"This damn place, there is no were safe for me live a life of a sloth."

"Was my last life not filled with action enough that this one have every place a trouble attached to it?" Veronica sat on her bed with a map of the empire spread before her."
