The rain pounded against umbrellas, held up like a barrier to protect their wielders. Keiji stood in front of the crosswalk. The rain splattered off his umbrella, hitting the ground around him while he stayed completely dry.
He adjusted his glasses, looking at the dark crossroad in front of him. Turning to his left and right, he looked at the other people waiting for the crosswalk sign to come alive, signaling them across.
It had been another year since Keiji took down Yoru's Palace. Since then, it's been peaceful. After he and Ryuji quit the team, they stayed away from Kamoshida as much as they could. He felt bad for the track members who still went through the abuse though.
It was now summer, and when school started back up, it would be his second year. And the start of everything. Until then, he was realizing before inevitable stress appeared.
It didn't feel very summer like. Not with all the rain pouring down. The sound of rapid footsteps floated through his ears, barely noticeable. As he strained to listen, it was the sound of running.
As Keiji looked forwards, he heard the sound of a car going faster than it should. He would know, he likes cars.
Wait.
That car.
The footsteps.
Keiji quickly turned around and grabbed whoever was going to run into the street by their wrist. The car sped by, splashing water on the two of them.
The person stared at where she would have been, before turning around to look at Keiji shocked.
"Are you okay?" Keiji's asked, before his eyes widened.
A long haired red girl, about a year younger, stared at him. "T-thank you." She meekly replied.
Someone else ram up to them, appearing in front of Keiji. "Sumire! Are you alright?!"
A brown haired girl ran up, this one about the same age as Keiji.
"I-I'm alright Kasumi..." Sumire meekly replied.
"Don't worry me like that!" Kasumi said, hugging her younger sister. She turned to Keiji and bowed deeply. "Thank you so much!"
"You're welcome..." replied Keiji still shocked. He looked at the two's clothes, which were completely soaked. Luckily, they weren't wearing white. We know why that's lucky. Keiji won't be accused.
"Hey, there's a Cafe nearby." Said Keiji. "I know the owner. Let's go and get you two dried off and some coffee."
. . .
Keiji walked into Cafe Leblanc, the two girls following him. Sojiro looked over to them, a ring sparkling on his finger.
"What's up?" He asked. "And who are these two?"
"They're friends." Replied Keiji. "They almost got into an accident."
"That's terrible." Said a familiar woman walking down the stairs.
"Hey Wakaba." Greeted Keiji.
Wakaba nodded. "Come on up. I'll help you dry your clothes."
Kasumi and Sumire nodded, walking up the stairs, following Wakaba up there.
"If Wakaba is here, where is Futaba?" Asked Keiji.
"You know her. Up in her room. She's been up there a lot lately..." Sojiro replied, a tone of worry in his voice.
"It'll be okay." Said Keiji. "I'm sure she's fine."
'Why does Futaba stay in her room so much? She isn't traumatized.' Wondered Keiji.
