Prologue

There are those who would say they do not believe in fate or destiny. Most people would believe we are born, we live, we die, and that's it. In my experience, I would say that those people, whoever they may be, could not be more wrong. My life, in of itself, is proof that fate really does exist, and I will tell you why that is. As long as I can remember, I have always felt safe, like I had my very own guardian angel, if that is what you may want to call him. He was always there, either in person during times I was in some form of distress or in my dreams, ever since I was very young.
Every moment he entered my thoughts or seemed to appear out of nowhere, there was a bond I could not explain between us. A familiarity I felt with him, despite not knowing who he truly was. Somehow we were linked beyond what any 'normal' human being could possibly imagine. It would not be until I was an adult when I would learn the truth about everything, to have all my questions answered. The events that occurred in my life since childhood, the choices I have made, all led me to where I am today.
Fate is a strange thing at times it would seem. It makes you wonder about the universe and the role you were set to play in it. We were destined for greater things, he and I. My guardian angel, so mysterious, majestic, and elegant of a man that he was. I had never known any other man to be as he was, a man out of time's past. What I am about to reveal to you is the truth of it all. Our hearts were intertwined by fate's design.
