Player was a very determined person, he has lost every game and yet still tries. It was always about winning for him.
It's almost impressive.
Mr. Egg studied Player from a distance, making note of his frustrated expression. Player discussed something with Veteran and had lost the previous match.
All of them were in the Lobby, with Captain serving as their host again. "Alright people! That was a great game.." As excited and congratulatory as he was, Captain's words were drowned out by Mr. Egg as he locked his loving gaze to Player.
Mr. Egg felt practically infatuated with him. He wanted to be friends maybe even more. But it just didn't seem possible, or in the least bit realistic.
Veteran in the distance pointed Mr. Egg out to Player. When Player turned around Mr. Egg realized this and awkwardly shuffled his feet looking away. Hoping Veteran didn't say anything about him.
Captain stood up on a metal crate nearby to feel more important with his announcement. "And, as this is the last game for today; let's make it a great one!" Everyone cheered in agreement.
Finally, the game had begun. By luck or chance Player and Mr. Egg were the imposters.
IMPOSTOR
The crewmates arrived in The Skeld and, as always the cheerful "Everyone scatter!" was heard. They did as instructed. Player walked off separated from the group, near the asteroids. Mr. Egg followed him from close behind.
I have a chance to be with him. To-
"Mr. Egg!"
Interrupted from his thoughts Mr. Egg bumped into Player when he stopped walking. Now practically visor to visor with Player. An annoyed expression plastered the other's 'face'.
There is just a small space separating us..
Their pinkies barely grazed one another, Mr. Egg was more than aware of this and as sad as it was, this was the closest that Mr. Egg has been to somebody in a while. He wondered if the other realized it. Player backed up, a great bit of distance now between them.
which stung a bit.
"Okay. Here's the plan:"
Mr. Egg condemned his thoughts as he tried to focus on Player's plan, they already looked suspicious alone together like this so they had to be quick.
"So, we'll both just do our tasks,"
Focusing on the Impostor portion of the game would be difficult if I'm around Player.. But, Mr. Egg was willing to risk this. Just to be around Player, or anyone for that matter.
"Mhm.."
Already, his focus dwindled as he got lost in Player's visor. Thoughts of their association and maybe eventual business partnership bubbling up making him warm inside, it was all he could think about now.
"And, we can't hang out together. it's going to be way too obvious."
As those words left Player, Mr. Egg couldn't help but feel disappointed. The pink Impostor stepped back a bit in surprise. He tried to bargain with Player, desperately wanting his affections.
"Mr. Player I could be good use to you, though!" He hopefully looked at his impostor partner, his gaze begging the man. Player begrudgingly looked back at Mr. Egg, holding his hand.
He's holding my hand.
"Look, Mr. Egg, I appreciate it but it'd be better to go solo." His heart felt pierced in that moment. He resisted spilling tears as Player walked just behind Mr. Egg and shot an approaching Veteran, quickly putting his gun away.
