Once I woke woke up I turned around to see that Ashton was no longer next to me. I sat up in the bed and looked around the room, but couldn't see him. I got out of bed and put on some underwear and threw on Ashton's shirt that he had left here after we came back from his house and began to wander around upstairs looking for him. I checked in the bathroom, my brothers room, the spare room, even my parents rooms. But he wasn't anywhere. I walked downstairs and checked in the family room. No. No one there but Benji asleep on the couch. Finally I checked in the kitchen. There he was.
He was standing facing away from me, looking out the window. He was wearing only his black jeans and no shirt. His bare back was facing me, leant up against the island that was in the middle of the kitchen and was taking sips from a mug that, by the smell could only have been coffee. I stared at him for a while before shifting my weight from my right foot to my left foot, creating a small amount of noise on the tiled floor, causing Ashton to turn around.
"Oh um hey." He said turning around so his body was facing all of me. Man he was hot. "Sorry i was just-" He continued to say gesturing towards the mug in his hand, before i cut him off.
"No no it's fine." I said slowly walking towards him. "Are you ok?" I asked.
"Yeah I'm good." He said smiling down at me and placing an arm around my shoulder before looking out the kitchen window again.
"Are you sure?" I asked him again, wondering why he had come down here and not stayed upstairs.
"Yeah i'm fine. I was just thinking about --- stuff I guess." He said vaguely continuing to stare out the window.
"Oh yeah, what kinda stuff?" I asked him hopping up onto the kitchen counter, he positioned himself inbetween my legs resting his hands on my thighs and looked at me for a moment before letting out a brief laugh.
"Um I dunno really..." He said smiling down at my lap, he looked up at me before speaking again. "Everything really, Luke, school, the future." He said looking at me deeply before saying the last one. I was looking down into my lap when he spoke. "You." He said softly, trying to search for my eyes. My head jolted up quickly and my lips curled into a small smile..
"Oh yeah." I said smiling at him, I placed both my arms round the back of his neck and pulled him in a llittle closer. "What about me?" I asked him looking for the answer in his eyes. He stayed looking at me for a while longer examinging every inch of my face.
"You're different." He said continuing to smile wide, making me smile even more. Once we had stayed like this for a while I began to speak again.
"So what about the future? What about that?" I asked him looking into his eyes curious to know his response.
"Well I'll be lucky if I even get through school." He said shaking his head and looking down into my lap. I grabbed the sides of his face gently and brought his gaze back to mine.
"Hey, you will. I know you will." I said reassuringly, placing a small kiss on his lips. He nodded a little before continuing.
"I'm hoping to get into Ohio state on a football scholarship." He said looking up at me. I nodded in agreement and he continued. "My dad, he want's me to go to Princeton or Stanford and study Business and Politics just like he did, so I can take over the family business one day and make him proud." He said sarcastically shaking his fist in the air, but then letting his head drop again, laughing to himself. Even though i'm pretty sure he didn't find it funny. "You know that's what my brother was gonna do?" He asked I knew he didn't expect me to answer, but I just shook my head anyway. "Yeah he was always gonna take over the family business." He said continuing. "He was practically born for it." He said he looked down for a llittle while longer, I tried to keep a smile going through my frown, but it was difficult, I never realised how hard his life actually was.
"So what about you?" He aked me looking back into my eyes, tucking a stray piece of hair behind my ear.
"Hmm." I said thinking about my answer even though I knew what it was gonna be. Me and my parents had always spoken about me going to Berkley, university of California. I didn't know at this point how long exactly me and Ashton were going to last, or even if we'd be together by the time the year ends, but with everything he just told me about his family and ohio state. I couldn't tell him. So I lied.
"Um I'm not sure actually, I still have some options open." I said as his smile grew wide. "Probably just a state college or something." I said trying not to make eye contact, as he nodded in agreement. I felt horrible. "Hungry?" I asked him hopping off the kitchen counter and looking up at him, as food was always my go to ice breaker.
"Umm sure." He said stretching his arms out wide and rubbing the back of his neck, which made him look even hotter. I opened the cupboard and all I could see was cereal and these nasty crackers my mom buys which are like savoury or something, they last like the whole year without going bad.
"Ok." I said realising there actually wasn't any food in the house. "I haven't been grocery shopping like all week, and so there's actually nothing here but cereal." I said turning round to face him, holding up a box of crunchy nut and shreddies. He laughed a little before speaking.
"Cereals fine by me." He said walking over to me and wrapping his arms round my waist whilst I poured out two bowls of shreddies. I handed it to him and he smiled.
"Thank you." He said placing a kiss on my cheek. We went into the living room, causing Benji to wake up and run over to us wagging his tale like there was no tomorrow. We went and sat on the couch and I switched the tele on. Ashton and I were watching Captain America. We were sitting next to eachother, Ashton's arm around me and my legs spewed accross his lap, in which he rested his left hand on. I looked over at the time and could see it was already 9:30pm and we had school the next morning. I dismissed it quickly though when the film began to get interesting. I began to grow tired and slowly drifted off to sleep in Ashton's grip. That was all I remebered.
