Julia's eyes were wide as she noticed the hooded stranger seated across from Layton. How she still managed to remember his name was beyond her as she stared wide - eyed at the hooded male in front of her. Her breathng was laboured and it was as if she had run a marathon, she felt the blood rush to her ears and the hairs on her neck stood up as she was, for some reason afraid, but at same time she was mercilessly intrigued by who he was and what the deal with his hood was.

"H-hi.. Can i get you anything?" her voice was hoarse and she quickly turned her gaze to a smirking Layton.

"Hey, firstly sorry about my friend Bentley's rudeness yesterday. He was a little..erm..." Layton looked away uncomfortably and shifted in his seat - avoiding eye contact with Julia. " Tired! Yes, he was tired and wasn't really in the mood for any form communication whatsoever, i mean he punched Lexis for fucks sake!" Layton's sudden outburst startled Julia and she took a small step back.

Recovering from the lie Layton had just so blatantly told he looked up to see Julia's hands a ghostly white from gripping her notepad tightly, her posture looked even smaller and Layton knew he had frightened her.

"Im sorry.. i didn't mean to i-"

"It's okay." Julia's reply was curt and held a tone of finality.

"Well could you get us two coffees one bl-"

"one black with two sugars and one black with no sugar right?" Not wanting to hang around the table any longer Julia rushed out what she knew was the right order and headed to the back kitchen.

"Great now look what you've done!" Layton turned to see his furious friend with his fists clenched on the table and his mouth curved into a snarl.

"What?" Layton question innocently whilst shrugging his shoulders in an unknowing manner, but boy did he know.

"You chased her away!" His voice was a harsh whisper as he was now leaning over the wooden table trying to grab a hold of Laytons white shirt.

"i did no such thing!" Layton knew he was playing with fire but he also knew that his friend wouldn't confess.

"Liar! You know who she is and yet you scared her away an-"

"listen here you prick. Yes, i know who she is and i also know what she means to you. And i'll also help you play peeping tom whilst you admire her from afar or whatever those lovestruck fools do - but first, admit it. Admit who she is to you and i'll stop 'scaring her away'" Layton leaned back in his seat with a satisfied smile on his face as he watched his friend lower his hooded gaze and sigh in defeat.

"I can't." His voice was a low whisper - almost a sigh and Layton sat up abruptly, banging his knee on the table in the process.

"What?! What the fuck do you mean you can't admit it?"

"I mean what i said, i can't."

"Seriously you know you won't get anywhere if you don't admit it to yo-"

"Admit it to myself, yes i know."

"Then why are you denying what you feel towards her? You've yearned for her for what nineteen? twenty years now?"

"I am aware of how long i've waited but you know its dangerous and it would be so much better if i just left her alone." His tone left no room for argument as he glared at Layton - well as best as he could glare with a hood covering his eyes.

"But what abou-"

"No. No buts and no what ifs, just leave her be and this is the last and first time im doing this you hear me? Also, sit down you fool you're attracting attention and im sure backside does not look attractive to those trying to eat behind you."

With that he fled the cafe quicker than you could officialy say backside and Layton was left in a peaceful silence as he sat back down and rested his head on the table.

I think this chapter's kind of short? But im pretty sure it has more speech than any other chapter and it was simply based on Layton being an amazing friend and ***** being stubborn but yess // Also i wrote this chapter on my phone so feel free to point out mistakes and such.
