Dean stopped by Singer Salvage Yard because he needed to get something from Bobby. He rang the doorbell.

A blonde girl answered and tilted her head. "Can I help you?"

"Kendy, who's there?" Bobby asked from another room.

"Some guy," Kennedy replied.

"Dean Winchester," Dean said.

Bobby joined his niece and frowned, glancing around. "Where's your daddy? I don't need to get my gun, do I?"

Dean shook his head. "My dad's not here. Just me. I came by to get that thing from you."

"Right. Come on in."

Kennedy stepped aside, giving Dean a second look.

Bobby shot her a look and said, "No. He's too old for you. Maybe when you're older."

"What, when I'm thirty?" Kennedy shot back.

"No, but give it a couple years."

"He's kinda cute."

"Kennedy Mae, I mean it."

"I hear you, Uncle Bobby."

Bobby left to get the item for Dean.

Dean turned to Kennedy and smiled. "Nice to meet you, Kendy."

"It's actually Kennedy. Uncle Bobby's the only one who calls me Kendy."

"Oh. Uh, right. Dean Winchester." He offered his hand to shake.

Kennedy shook his hand and smiled. "Kennedy Ryan. Nice to meet you."

"So, um, I haven't see you around here before."

She nodded slowly. "Yeah, well, according to my uncle, you haven't been here for a while."

"My dad and your uncle had a falling out. Where are you from?"

"Alexandria, Virginia. I came to live with my uncle, after-"

"After what?" He noticed her downcast expression. "What happened, Kennedy?"

She pursed her lips as she looked up. "My parents died. I don't want to talk about it anymore."

Dean nodded, understanding. "Trying to cope with a parent's death is never easy. My mom died when I was little, and it's still something I'm dealing with."

"Does it get easier?"

"Eventually it will."

Bobby returned and handed Dean what he needed.

Dean smiled. "Thanks, Bobby. It was nice to meet you, Kennedy."

"You too, Dean."

Dean waved and left the house.

Bobby glanced at his niece and asked, "How you doin', kid?"

Kennedy shrugged. "Okay. Talking to Dean surprisingly helped a little."

"Well, he does understand in a way what you're going through. Come on, kid. We got more lessons to do. If you wanna become a hunter, you gotta learn all you can."

"Right."

The uncle and niece walked into the library and Bobby opened a book while Kennedy pulled out a notebook to take notes.
