Dark and Gloomy

I freeze before turning towards the voice. Something in me hints not to answer. Is it because of my last encounter with a guy? I'm left wide eyed at the dripping indigo mess with tired purple eyes, and when I'm about to say 'no thanks', the sun comes out.
Not the literal sun, but someone who could not look more opposite to his friend than if he tried. Wait, they're friends? I blink a few times. "What's up?" The newcomer bounces forward and hangs around the first's shoulders.
I shrug with the umbrella.
"Oh man, that's bad luck. Better take that back in for a refund." The golden brightness says after seeing my busted umbrella. "Oh, the name's Denki, and this here is Shinso, well, he prefers to go by his last name, anyway." His smile was at odds with the flat lined mouth beside him.
Is he always this friendly or is my awkward silence making him talk more? "Yeah, I'll take it in.. thanks." I respond looking at both, attempting a small smile as to not offend dark and gloomy or his bright and yellow shadow.
Half a step later and I've stabbed myself with a piece of umbrella that bent out of place. &@#%! OW Ow ow. I'm trying hard not to make a scene but my eyes are burning up against my will.
I shook my hand reflexively and tried to deep-breathe it off as I got inside. I tossed the umbrella on the counter and flinched at my own aggressiveness.
If the lady had half a mind to argue the return, she held back once she saw my hand ..or was it my face? Ugh, I should have just stayed in bed!
"Hey,"
"W-what?" My voice breaks. I was loud but more due to surprise than bravado. I turn to see the guy named Shinso holding up a first aid kit from a nearby shelf.
"May I?" He tilts it towards me, label side up. His tone is sort of.. it's not cocky, but it's not warm.. but he cares? And his appearance.. but I don't think he's a weirdo..
What's with this assessment? "Okay." I shake off my overanalyzing.
He goes to the front and grabs another umbrella, opening it up in the store. It gets hung-up mid-launch. He deadpans towards the clerk who stood quietly, watching.
"Don't bother exchanging it, they're all a scam." After paying for the kit, he handed me my refund. "Or.. let me hold on to it til we clean you up.." He gets to removing the plastic wrapper on the kit instead.
I hadn't realized I had my legs rooted. I had focused all my energy on applying pressure and was a complete bloody mess. "I'm sorry for the trouble." I manage as we get back out under the awning. Thankfully, the rain had let up a little.
"It's no trouble. Um.. my friend is saving us a table, if you're interested.. It'll be easier to treat you there." He gestures towards the burger joint across the street.
"Oh.. okay." I'm calming down, I guess.
"Let's clean it up a bit before going in, though. We don't want to freak people out."
I hold up my hand cooperatively before he even finishes the thought. He quickly wipes me up with a stinging antiseptic and I'm left with a wad of gauze for pressure before I can think too much about the look on his face.

I'm surprised to spot Denki, well, not that I found him so quickly, but that he was sitting with another seemingly opposite.
"You guys made it!" He cheers, raising his glass. "This is my girlfriend, Kyoka." He's proud to introduce, side-hugging the dark-haired edgy/punk/rocker beside him.
"Nice to meet you," I introduce myself before sliding into the booth, suddenly reminded that I'm starving. I grab a menu, ready to pick anything just to dig into.
Shinso takes a few items out of the kit and swiftly goes back to work. "This is actually kind of deep.. you might need a few stitches.." He held a tightly bandaged hand snug between both of his. "This should be fine for now, but you'll have to get it checked properly."
